Guest guest
Soy Milk-Has anyone here made it? Come on don't be shy I know someone here has done this. I read various sets of instructions, seems relatively easy to do. What I would like to know is how the taste compares to the store bought variety, plain, not vanilla or chocolate etc. Thanks, Di
Guest guest
well we just made our first batch ( soyapower machine came last night) .... added a little salt , sugar , and vanilla...used it on cereal, and it was fine...used the okara ( bean leftover aftrer making the milk, to a loaf of bread in the bread machine, and we think its good) I have only bought vanilla at the store...and will add some flavor to the home stuff.... there is a bit of an aftertaste to get used to in my opinion and my son.... we made soymilk the long way years ago...this is easier but still the cleanup time is more work than actually making it...and its not bad. Guest guest
Hmmm, I think I may try that this weekend. I love using soymilk in my morning smoothies, but I wasn’t to happy when I read the list of ingredients. I don’t have a blender, but I am sure either my food processor or my braun immersion thingie will do the trick. Guest guest
oh yes, I think anyone can make soymilk with what they have.... you can likely find the steps easily enough on line basically its... 1. soak the soybeans overnight, rinse 2. blend them in the blender with fresh water ( yeah, I think the food processor would be fine) 3. cook them ( we used the microwave) with the water 4. let it cool down enough to strain out the milk ( through a cheesecloth, bandana, or old sheet torn in squares) 5. whats left in the bandana you can make veggie patties with ...okara , its called.... 6. chill and flavor the milk.... find better instructions with measurements on line and have some fun. the machine is going to make it more likely we actually...make the soymilk I think. next ...sometime try to make tofu...i have a press now....but that is not needed either....
