Guest guest
We didn't have a queestion of the week so since Thanksgiving is almost here share a recipe or tell us what favorite dish you will take with you or prepare. I'm making cranberry sauce from Chanda's recipe that should be in the files. I'm making a macadamia pie and a pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, and the dressing. Sissy will do the Quorn roast and Mya will make the salad, yams and I'm sure there will be more added to the menu. I'll probably bake a pumpkin & apple pie, maybe pecan too. My MIL usually does this, but FIL just had knee replacement surgery so she isn't doing a lot. I will probably also make 2 kinds of cranberry sauce, candied yams, maybe some parsnips and whatever else I " m asked to bring. Maybe bread or rolls. We divvy up the dishes. Guest guest
Well this Thanksgiving is going to be a new experience, it's going to be held @ my carnivorous daughter's house! I did some looking last night and found a couple of tofurkey recipes that I think I'll try to cut down for myself, since the only ones eating it will be me and maybe my granddaughter. Otherwise, I imagine we'll have the usual - green bean casserole, scalloped corn, mashed potatoes, a vegetable based gravy, dinner rolls... you know.. Guest guest
New experience for me....it will be at my partner's sister's and family. Apparently tradition is not big there (good!) and they do not make turkey not because they are vegetarian but because no one likes it! I am sure I will be called in to cook, but have to see what gaps there may be in the menu, and what would go well with what is being served. I am thinking stuffed mushrooms are well liked and go well with lots of things. My vegan dirty rice would be good too, and culturally appropriate. It will be in the bay area so I can certainly shop there. Also, there are other veg-heads in the crowd, so no worries, it should be fun.
