Guest guest
I believe it. What a great find. Now there has to be an old crockpot out there for you too. Freecycle is the best Donna Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile " cabrita_trl " <roseta_lleo Thu, 15 Nov 2007 16:56:56 OT: my adventures with freecycle Several of you recommended freecycle.org since I wanted a crockpot and the older ones are better. Well, I placed a wanted add, but have not heard anything about a crockpot yet. I will keep reading the posts and when one comes up I'll do my best to grab it. The funny thing is though, my sweetie is musically inclined and had wanted a baby grand piano for a while. We even have a nice spot for it in the big old house where we live. I was thinking I'd look at my finances and maybe buy him a used one for Christmas... Well guess what? there was a free baby grand piano on freecycle! all I had to do is pay a piano mover, and it is now seating at home! It needs some restringing and minor repairs but it looks pretty darn nice, beautiful actually. So here it goes, I wanted a crockpot but instead got a baby grand piano. freecycle rocks! thanks for telling me about it! Guest guest
Have you written the modertors??? Our chapter wants to know when this happens. I have given a lot away and only had one person do that. Guest guest
Wow, Cabrita! I am on freecycle too and I also saw someone offer a free piano recently. Hard to believe, isn't it!? I see all kinds of amazing offers on freecycle, but I rarely try to grab them as I really have very little space. I've given some stuff away, though, like a vacuum that needed some repairs and some clothes that are now too big for me. The only thing I've grabbed was a bag of lemons from someone's back yard. :-) I even saw someone offer up a bag of cotton balls. They only needed a couple but had to buy a huge bag so they freecycled the rest. :-) Sharon thelilacflower wrote: > I believe it. What a great find. Guest guest
LOL, I actually DID freecycle my son's piano. It was in great shape and only needed tuning. Dear heaven, was I ever glad to get that thing out of the house. We had to keep the garage heated and air conditioned just for the piano, even if we didn't get the use of the air conditioning or heating. (HUGE bone of contention around here.) Now if only someone locally has a rice cooker, sigh. Jeanne in GA Sharon Zakhour <sharon.zakhour wrote: Wow, Cabrita! I am on freecycle too and I also saw someone offer a free piano recently. Guest guest
I have given away a diaper bag, Einstein videos, and Medela Breast pump this week..I have been very careful with where I meet people and I don't want anyone coming to my house...So the big items will have to go to Goodwill..So far the people have been very nice and appreciative.. Guest guest
I am the owner of our local freeycle group. When we get no-shows we want them reported. Usually it is the same people over and over who do it. When they get a letter from the owner/moderator they usually quit doing it. In 3 years I have only had to ban one person for another no show after getting a letter from me. Please report it, don't quit freecycling stuff. Guest guest
I haven't had any no shows for pick-up but have had people ask for things they want and I have responded and set things aside for them..They have not contacted me about pick-up, so I am taking them to a consignment shop..If they don't sell, I will offer to recycle. The items that I have Offered have all been picked up and the people have been very appreciative and even thanked me with an e-mail, after pick-up.. Guest guest
I just joined freecycle this past week and today shared things with 3 people. Gave away some old carpet and padding, children's clothes, carseat, inline skates and some adult clothes. I got a great response for all items and they were taken gratefully by the 3 families. I am so excited about free cycle now. I can't wait to declutter more and find good homes for things, where folks really want and need them. Guest guest
I agree, Judy. I want to use it more than I have. Just today I picked up a brand new book on cartooning that I plan to give my daughter for Christmas. I think I'll pass on my coffee maker and coffee grinder next. :-) Sharon wwjd wrote: > I just joined freecycle this past week and today shared things with 3 people.
