> I had an anniversary luncheon party to go to, followed by a dinner. . . .

Wow - good for you, Maryann! If that was your first real test, that's a big one!

Congratulations. And don't worry about that pound - it was probably the

salt, as you say, and you know how to get rid of that ;)

Best love, Pat

Congrats on staying veggie. Maryann, I was so impressed by your weight loss and

by your positive attitude that last week I found the motivation to start a vegan

diet. I've challenged myself to eat more fresh fruit (I love veggies, but never

a big fan of fruit), and to cut way back on fat. I haven't missed neither the

dairy nor the eggs, and I've lost 3 pounds in the past week.

This group is so awesome!

I felt good that I stayed vegetarian, tho! Hopefully, I will take it

off in a couple days.

That's great, Marie!

I found out tonight that my 15 yr old daughter--who only weighs 116--

has high cholesterol!!

The doctor said to stop eating fast food, and I told her we haven't

been in a fast food restaurant in years. My daughter eats more

healthily than most kids her age. But, I told her tonight that her

cheese addiction is going to have to end if she wants her cholesterol

lower. That is the thing she eats the most of, and it's so high in

cholesterol.

This week, my hubby is also doing the Fuhrman detox diet, so all our

meals at home will be vegan, even my daughter's. I hope my husband

sticks with this diet, and doesn't go back to meat, eggs and dairy,

not just for his sake, but for our daughter's, too.

For all I know, my daughter could have familial high cholesterol (she

is adopted), but I still would feel better if she went mostly vegan

with her diet.

I just finished that book " Eat to Live " and will be on the 6 wk plan

soon also. Leave tomorrow for about 10 days vacation so will not be

able to avoid all those fats and some pasta dishes...... refined bread

(sigh).

After reading that book, I really have 2nd thoughts on continuing some

foods for my children! I will re-read through the book some more and

re-group my thoughts. Sounding like my husband is open to working with

me on this. I never thought I would receive opposition from him about

my food choices but I have. He even said I was getting " fanatical "

about not eating animal products - I just jumped right back into him

and asked if he was " being fanatical " about NEEDING animal products

LOL! After reading out loud to him from many sections, he is getting a

different opinion if only from a health perspective.

Leaving tomorrow so will not be able to see comments for awhile but I

would be interested in how some of you were able to keep your children

happy while drastically changing their food habits too. My boys are 8

and 11.

congrats! I've been bad lately and have been eating the [non-veg content edited

by moderator] that DH made for lunch today and dinner last night. But on a good

note I'm down a pound :) 204! Not bad considering just back in April I was 215!

So the veggie diet is working, now I just have to keep up with it and stop

cheating. :)

We tried one of those Quorn turkey roll thingys. Wow, excellent, and I

am pretty picky about that sort of thing. The texture was very good,

flavor, everything. I saw that my local Whole Foods had a stuffed

Quorn turkey thing but I wasnt willing to pay the price for it. So we

settled for a plain jain 'turkey' roll. I will save these for special

occassions though as I have issues with gluten. But we were throwing

caution to the wind yesterday anyway. I dont have as horrible a

reaction to wheat as some but I do react. And my girl loved it, that

we found a vegetarian 'turkey'. A great dinner and no one had to die.

lol So we all had something to be thankful for, including the real

turkey!
