Guest guest
Hi All, With many of getting out Christmas Trees to put up, our question of the week has to do with traditions you have for food that you like to enjoy when putting up your Christmas Decorations. Do you have family over to help or do you do it as a family all yourself? Please share how you make Christmas decorating special in your home and any special food you like to have at this time. Looking forward to all of your responses. Judy

Do you have family over to help or do you do it as a family all yourself? We do it with just my hubby, myself and our children. This year we put our big tree up on Nov. 11. Outside decoration partially finished this past weekend and will put up the other tree, our Christmas village, Nativity scene and amongst many other decorations in every room of our home. My youngest has small village that she also sets up on the dresser in her room and her own small Christmas tree with lights and ornmaments. It is so much fun. We have hot water in the teapot all day and make hot teas and hot chocolate as we want. I even have packages of Hot Cider Mix. I make a big pot of Vegetable Soup and Cornbread Muffins on one of the days, subs another day. We decorate for several days inside and outside our home. We love Christmas decorations and how festive everything looks with them. It helps make the season more joyful. Our neighborhood has really gotten a lot of neighbors that tastefully decorate the outside of their homes for the Christmas Holidays and that is fun to take a walk at night and enjoy. We also enjoy driving thru other neighborhoods to see what they have done. Please share how you make Christmas decorating special in your home and any special food you like to have at this time. Looking forward to all of your responses. Judy
Guest guest
When the kids were little, we would always decorate while playing Christmas music or put videos in the player (these were the days before DVDs). Of course, I would be baking cookies, especially chocolate chip and they would eat them almost as fast as they came out of the oven . . . that's if I could keep them out of the cookie dough bowl. They are all grown up and have homes of their own now. So, DH and I put on holiday music and decorate all day, real slow. We have really cut down on our decorating and everything is baby friendly for the grandchildren. That way, everything out can be played with also. They just adore all of the talking and music playing ones! Christmas, for us, is all about the kids and grandkids, nieces and nephews. Any time spent with family is special for us! We don't need a special reason to celebrate! I've decided to cut way back on baking this year. I usually bake an obscene amount of cookies at the kids request. This year, I am letting my dear daughter-in-law and chef son-in-law do the baking. I'll probably make pizzelle's (one of our favorites) and ok, one batch of chocolate chips. What would Christmas be without the tollhouse cookies! And if the big kids are around, I will be scolding them as they sneak the cookie dough! Pamela Never miss a thing. Make your homepage. Guest guest
We put on a Christmas movie or music too. It sure does put you in the mood doesn't it. Love the cookie idea. My girls are always baking up treats. I'll have to send in the recipe for Cranberry Cheesecake Bars that my youngest made yesterday. They were sooooooooo good. Please send in that special pizzelle's recipe. Boy do we love chocolate chip cookies here too. Especially with walnuts or pecans in them. Yummy. I loved reading about your family traditions. Thanks Pamela for sharing. It sounds so special.
