Guest guest
There is a book called " The Way It all Ve-gan " that will be of help I think. I've seen and used some recipes. The reason the vegetarian book didn't help is because you weren't specific enough. When vegetarinas don't ear eggs or dairy- it's called Vegan. ( a stricter form of vegetarian.) So you need to get a vegan cookbook. Most vegan food does not contain sugar or flour. However- look out, when you are working with baked goods ofcourse. the book I mentioned above works around whiteflour and sugar for sure. Best wishes to your friend's mom. I for one truly and sinserely beleive that food can be a healer as well as destructive- it has the power to do either- it's how you use it. You may want to look into other books like Eating with Cancer- or do a search on amazon.com for a title like that. It may also depend on which cancer she has. A friend of mine had lymphoma and her doctor did not want her to use soy foods. You may want to read what Dr. Andrew weil may suggest if anything. Also- you may want to visit www.vegsource.com- it probably has some articles of interest to you, Much love Jamie jess_castillo [jess_castillo] Sunday, November 10, 2002 6:22 PM Veg-Recipes Please Help Hi! First let me start off by saying that I'm not a practicing Vegetarian. Who knows, maybe after being on the list I may become one. The reason for my post is I need your help. A very close friend of mine has had her cancer return. It has come back after 5 years and is practically everywhere. Exhausting every other option, she went to an Amish women who was known to be a hand healer. The women told her that she was to stay away from all meats and poultry (including eggs). She said the proteins in these foods feed the cancer. She also told her to stop eating: white flour, sugar, and dairy products. She said those were poisons for the body as well. Her daughter, (my bestfriend), went out and bought a Vegetarian Cookbook. Unfortunately, most recipes needed: white flour, sugar, or dairy products. My friend, in fear of eating anything bad for her, has resorted to eating raw carrots and celery. My plea to all of you is... If you have any recipes that do not contain these " poisons " in them, could you please send them to my email. Guest guest
Hello Jess, In addition to the good advice Jamie offered you about searching out " vegan " , as opposed to " vegetarian " cookbooks, I'd suggest looking for books on " macrobiotics " . There has been much anecdotal evidence about such a diet causing remission of cancers. It is not vegetarian, however, and utilizes fish as a mainstay. Try a web search on macrobiotics, or look in the library or on-line booksellers. Regards, Karen - " jess_castillo " <jess_castillo <Veg-Recipes > Sunday, November 10, 2002 6:21 PM Please Help > Hi! Guest guest
That's a really good idea on the macrobiotics! PS Jess- this group is wonderful and always so helpful to it's many members- all our questions and problems and health concerns... I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I have, and you'll stay aboard, Even if you're not vegetarian, I think many members actually aren't quite vegetarians themselves, but try to get a veggie meal in here and there or have kids who are vegtarian! We're a mixed group here! Guest guest
Instead of a shake or drink, you could make raita (an Indian yogurt salad) or Tzaziki (a middle eastern or greek yogurt salad). The first one has many recipes, can be made with banana, cucumber, spinach, and other foods, and the latter is mostly a yogurt, cucumber, parsley and garlic salad. cabrita @ los angeles , " laesferaazul2012 " <laesferaazul2012 wrote: > > I am drinking protein shakes and use yogurt with my drink, but for > some reason I got the wrong yogurt and bought the whole milk salty > yougurt, I really would like a recipe that I could use the two pints > of yougurt I brought, please help. > > Azul Marino > laesferaazul2012 >
