Guest guest
Our Question of the Week question comes from Brad. Thanks Brad. What are some of your favorite healthy Breakfasts suggestions that you enjoy? It is said that if we eat a hearty healthy breakfast, we won't be as hungry the rest of the day and it will help us with loosing and maintaining a healthy weight. A very good reason for making this important meal not a junk cereal meal. I know this will give all of us good ideas as we inspire each other with things we make. Guest guest
One of my all-time favorite breakfast is a large bowl of oatmeal. I add a tablespoon of wheat germ or bran, a tablespoon of shelled hempseeds, some organic brown sugar and soymilk. I guess it brings back childhood memories....my mother used to feed me oatmeal while she read the Lewis Carroll version of " Alice in Wonderland " . Guest guest
This is my least favorite meal so I eat breakfast because your body needs to start off with something nutritious. On weekends I will make steel cut oatmeal, it takes about 25 minutes to cook and I like it with raw sugar, salt, little butter, vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom, oh and a sliced banana on top and some slivered almonds. I will have homemade toast with it. During the week I have Cheerios with soy milk and a banana. If I'm rushed I will warm a flour tortilla and spread crunchy peanut butter with hemp nut seeds sprinkled over it, and wrap it around a banana. Guest guest
Special K cereal with soy milk, and some orange juice. Sometimes just a bowl of fresh fruit diced up. On weekends I go out sometimes and I order a waffle or hot cereal or an omlette. Chelsea
Guest guest
I don't care for breakfast foods. I am not sure how healthy this is but during the week I have an onion bagel with cream cheese and a pot of coffee. During the weekends, Fri. and Sat. here, I make oatmeal with whatever is on hand. Raisins, dried cranberries, brown sugar, sunflower seeds, soy milk, vanilla the possible list goes on. On Sundays before Sunday school its toast and bananas. Guest guest
I like to make a breakfast burrito, diced potatoes sauted with bell peppers and onions, Boca sausage and eggs. Then I add some salsa and put all this into a heated flour tortilla. Or I will eat leftovers like pizza or spaghetti cold from the fridge. Guest guest
Warm bowl of miso first thing. Then I might have wheat toast and a piece of fruit 1/2 hr later on. Guest guest
half of one of the plastic containers of Naked Juice. Then I make a bowl of cereal mostly Cheerios or maybe some granola. I like to buy fresh papaya, mango, pineapple or bananas and take fruit for a break at work around 10am. Paul
Guest guest
I do the bagel thing too sometimes., or I make a fried egg sandwich and run out of the door. I try to make hot cereal but I run out of time. I do that on weekends. Guest guest
Before I have 'breakfast' I eat some type of fruit (dry or fresh) and a cup of Postum or Green tea. This morning I shoveled snow from the sidewalks before breakfast. LOL Then my breakfast meal is *leftovers'. Whatever I prepared for the mid- day meal the day before. The last two mornings I had a hot bowl of creme of veggie soup containing peas, carrots, potatoes and pearl onions. This is fast and satisfying and keeps me going into the early afternoon. Guest guest
This is what I made for my hockey/ringette crowd this morning (DH is the assistant hockey coach, DS had practice and a game, and DD has a practice this afternoon... lots of activity). We eat the leftovers during the week for breakfast. In my rice cooker: 3 organic apples, cored and chopped (2 gala, 1 granny smith) 1 tsp organic vanilla 4 cups steel-cut oats 5 cups of water 1/2 tsp sea salt Set on rice setting and come back in 20 minutes. Makes about 12 servings. Serve with a tablespoon of flaxseeds, a teaspoon of sucranat and a spinkling of cinnamon. Scrambled egg-whites: 4 oz. diced mushrooms (I have a mushroom disliker, so I cut them so that they are unrecognisable) 1 red pepper, finely diced 1/2 an onion, finely diced 2 cups egg whites (I use the break-free cartons of egg-whites) 1 tsp thyme 1/2 tsp sea salt Sauté the veggies in a spray of olive oil on medium high heat. Once onions are translucent, add egg-whites. As eggs set on the bottom of the pan, pull away from the sides and let the uncooked eggs run into the space left behind. If I don't have time for the eggs, I make a Chai protein shake: 12oz boiling water 2 Yogi Tea Black Chai Tea bags 1 tsp organic honey 1 scoop organic vanilla protein powder In a large insulated commuter mug, pour boiling water over tea bags. Let steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags. Add honey and stir until disolved. Add protein powder, secure lid to commuter mug and shake until all the powder is desolved (I find that some commuter mugs do not have the best seal to do this. If your mug leaks sometimes cover the opening of the mug with plastic wrap before securing the lid, and then shake.) Now, run out the door and sip on your drive into work Cheers! Guest guest
I usually scarmble egg whites with tofu and herbs. I also like a small bowl of hot cereal with fruit and nuts in it or I will settle for wheat bread and p'nut butter & jelly. @ hours later I usually have raw nuts or a Gala apple. Guest guest
-I would love to begin with a compote of either any melon,or a citrus fruit(Grapefruit,Pomello). Follow this with a pair or three steamed broken rice dumplings called " Idli " served with a mint and cilantro chutney. Next would be a course of stewed fruits(Berries,Dry Fruits like apricots, figs or dried plums that have been soaked and then steamed)This would be topped with honey/flavoured yogurt. Finally a choice of herbal tea;green, jasmine, mint or my favourite camomile with lime ,brown sugar and a tiny pinch of Tea Masala(Root ginger leaves dried, dried mint leaves etc). Thank You Arun -- In , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > Our Question of the Week question comes from Brad. Guest guest
Rice Krispies with milk, or scrambled eggs with a little aged cheddar cheese on top, or cream of wheat. Paulette

Guest guest
Every day for breakfast I eat a breakfast sandwich made of a one-egg herb omelette (folded into a square) and a Morningstar Farms breakfast pattie (faux sausage) on a mini bagel with butter or Smart Balance Light.
