Many of the avocados come from Fallbrook and I know 2 ranches who lost their

trees in the fires

Avocados???

Where did all the Avocados go??? Not a single *US* 'Aligator Pear' in

my markets this year. All were from South America and were very

expensive. Wondering if something happened to the California crop. I

am so hungry for Guacamole that I would be willing to trade lots of

snow for some ripe Avocados..LOL

Guess I will give up and make one of the delicious salsa recipes in our

files.

I think, sadly, that this will become a problem with lots of vegetables

due to climate change as well as (or including) fires. I think we must

steel ourselves to using what is available rather than what we would

like - good for the environment and good for the pocket ... if a little

less exciting ....

Better to make the most of our locally grown and available products

than importing them over vast distances ....

You are so right. I make a wonderful mock guacamole

out of thawed frozen peas. I think if you want to

create a little with new veggies or veggies you don't

normally eat, you will find plenty of wonderful

dishes. I do miss a good avocado now and then but I

believe they will surface again real soon and I'm off

to cook up some other vegetable.
