Guest guest
raisins, yum. Do you use pre-shredded carrots? I'm not sure I'm patient enough to grate all those carrots if I make more than a couple batches. **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)

Guest guest
Not a stupid question, I don't have a food processor or a mixer I do all my baking by hand. I hope to get a stand mixer this year. Guest guest
I think my mandolin is well, actually just a slicer. The mandolin for the cheapskate....works pretty well but I need to pay more than $8 for what I need. Guest guest
It's so easy, the bread is nice and fluffy moist. The outer part is kind of a sweet crunch. It's very good. You can toss some walnuts into the batter if you like. I forgot to add that to the recipe. I will file it now and add that part. Raisins are good too. You're welcome, enjoy! Guest guest
It's not bad to grate them I will use the food precessor if I double the batch or I will do them by hand. I don't use pre-grated carrots. Donna --- akfral wrote: > raisins, yum. Do you use pre-shredded carrots? Guest guest
Using a mandolin is quick for shredding carrots. I love nuts in my sweet breads. Raisen and craisens too.... Guest guest
Borner is a very good Mandolin. Has 3 different insert blades too for different size cuts. To create diced cuts, make several cuts down in the item and then run across the teeth of the mandolin the opposite direction. Use the insert blade with the cutting teeth closest together for fine slivers of carrots for a salad or Donna's Carrot bread. The insert with the teeth further apart make french fries. Use the insert with no teeth for perfectly uniform slices of tomato, cucumber slices, etc.... If you flip this insert over it makes thiner slices. It is something I use almost every day. It saves me a ton of time and it is very econmical. I've been using the Borner Mandolin for about 23 years. http://www.amazon.com/Borner-V-1001-Swissmar-V-Slicer-Plus/dp/B0000632QE Looks like a nice Christmas present to me. Linen and Things and Bed Bath and Beyond carry it in their kitchen gadgets section too. Guest guest
thanks Judy! I'll check it out. I have a BB & B coupon, maybe after Christmas I can get it on sale and $5 off too! (I bought myself 2 knitting books & a paper quilling book as Christmas presents 'from the girls'. I decided it was stupid to have them wrap them up for me since I bought and paid for them months ago....so I just decided to bring them out. My gift giving theory is 'one for you, one for me'. Not exactly the spirit of giving....Amy **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
