Guest guest
I make cookies all the time but I am having a problem.. Can someone explain to me why they would completely flatten out to where they dont look like cookies anymore.. They go square and flat.. They dont even look right.. I just started this year but I am curious as to why they do this every year.. You can email me outside the group if you like with your answers as Im not on the page much today.. Otherwise I will check messages in a bit. HUGS Jenn B
Guest guest
Some recipes call for chilling the dough, so that cookies will retain their shape and won't spread out as much when baked. Try doing that and see if it helps with your recipes. - Jenn Bartimus Question about cookies I make cookies all the time but I am having a problem.. Guest guest
Bet they still taste good. Are you using margarine or vegetable shortening in place of butter? Sometimes substituting those for butter can make them flatten out. Also, is your baking powder/soda fresh? Send samples of molasses cookies to.... *weg* Hope this helps, happy holidays! Guest guest
Hi Jenn, Well, my question is: do you melt the butter for your cookies? You definitely don't want to do this! You need to soften the butter, but never ever melt. I just let it sit on the counter to soften. It makes a huge difference! Guest guest
I just found out from my husband that the flatness is how her cookies always turned out.. i wasnt melting the butter.. It sat out for a bit.. Was softened.. I love butterscotch but I dont know if I want to try this specific recipe again.. I havent had to make cookies for about 2 years. so this has been a challenge for me.. Thanks for the information HUGS Jenn , Sharon Zakhour <sharon.zakhour wrote: > > Hi Jenn, > > Well, my question is: do you melt the butter for your cookies? You > definitely don't want to do this! Guest guest
Are you using the right margarine?? You can't use the soft stuff or you cannot melt the margarine before using it. This would further melt in the oven and flatten the cookies. Guest guest
Its Imperial® Spread, softened.Im pretty sure its just margarine as i dont buy stuff that says butter because it cost more... Its what I have used for years.. You can go to homebasics.com for recipes.. My peanut butter cookies recipe that I have had for a few years doesnt call for butter at all.. the butterscotch ones do call for butter. Guest guest
Imperial Margarine is fine, but Imperial Spread has been softened. Blue Bonnet Margarine is fine, too!!
