Guest guest
OK, it is getting down to the wire here and we are still in the midst of making candy and cookies and I was really quite tired of standing up rolling Jingle Bell Truffles (just invented them, lol). The neuropathy has been a bear lately and I was almost ready to scream. If all that isn't enough, someone stole all of our Christmas/Yule decorations out of our storage building, down to the tree and the ornaments my kids and I made many years ago. The husband person started cleaning the garage last night (don't ask me why... he could have done something in the visible areas of the house but noooooo, he was cleaning the garage), and he put an ancient chair outside to go to the dump today. (Ratty old cat chair.) I saw something pushing up the cushion and immediatley thought that one of our feline residents had gotten out and was starting to panic when I saw a long fluffy gray tail. A gray squirrel popped out of the cushion, her mouth full of batting, and she proceeded to rip out more batting and stuff it in her cheeks. I've watched many birds building their nests, but never have seen a squirrel gather material for the nest. She stuffed so much batting in her mouth, I started laughing and she scurried off up the oak tree. Derrick ran outside with half a can of cashews (Cashew Truffles) for the squirrel and dumped them on the chair. She (I am assuming female), stuffed every last nut in her mouth and scurried off, to come back and get more batting. Somewhere during the squirrel watching I forgot that I was hurting and irritable. What a wonderful world this is. Love to all, Jeanne in GA Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.

Guest guest
I hope you feel better soon Jeanne. I enjoyed your squirrel story. You tell a story well. I'm glad watching the squirrel lifted your spirits and pain. LOL see there was a reason for your husband cleaning the garage. The man upstairs gives us so much to be grateful for doesn't He. We just got back from a walk with our horses. I walked instead of rode. There are some donkey's in a pasture of a neighbors. Those donkeys just don't think it is right if we don't walk over to them so they can touch noses with our horses and chatter with them. They bray and bray until we come over. LOL they are so cute. They don't like it when we leave. I think they are lonely and enjoy the entertainment of folks and horses to visit them. So sorry that someone would be cruel and steal your things, especially Christmas treasures. So many memories from over the years. Guest guest
Hey Jenn, Is your Miss Domino a kitty? My Miss Domino is a shorthair tuxedo black & white kitty. She stalks the squirrels but they never take her seriously as she is 10 years old and fat. I am laughing over the names Peace, Diane , " jenntinysam " <jlbart74 wrote: > > its nice to be in those moments of awe and not realizing that your > still hurting > > I love watching the squirrels too but Miss domino likes to scare > them away.. > > HUGS > Jenn > > >
Guest guest
This squirrel story is priceless. I am a brand new member here and this is about the second or so post I read and I am in love with this group already. I dearly love all creatures great and small. Squirrels and crows are always so interesting in their nesting and the way they live life. From my big chair (where I often sit with a lap full of little dogs) I can watch the wild birds on the fence where I put out miscellaneous goodies every morning. Then the BIG squirrel comes for his share - have to keep the dogs in while he is here because they try to run him off. Now and then a beautiful black rat who lives in my palm tree will venture down and grab a little something and scurry up the tree. It is such sweet delight to observe the creatures going about their day. Thanks for the priceless word picture which will stay with me for a long time - and which all my Grandchildren will here tomorrow.
