Guest guest
Vita-Mix . They are wonderful and very powerful. You see them used at smoothie bars all the time. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. http://www.vita-mix.com/ Enjoy, Judy - Laura H. Saturday, December 29, 2007 5:02 PM Anyone make green smoothies? If so what kind of blender do you use? Guest guest
Yes, I make a green smoothie every day - I started when I began to follow Eat To Live last January. I use a Vitamix. They are pricey, but worth every penny. You can buy reconditioned ones through Vitamix.com with a warranty. That is a good way to go. Some people buy them off ebay but they are heavy, so be aware that shipping can be very high. I got mine through vitamix.com with free shipping (it was a promotion code that I got when watching one of the videos on their website). Some people like and use the BlendTec. They are a bit cheaper than the Vitamix. Consumers Reports rated these blenders recently and Vitamix got their highest rating but BlendTec was a close second. Last week I used my Vitamix to grind barley into flour. I use it to make hummous and to blend soups. It also makes wonderful frozen sorbets. (Just dump in frozen fruit, a smidge of vanilla, a smidge of liquid - like soy milk, maybe a date, and let 'er rip.) I credit my Vitamix as a huge part of my 40-lb weight loss this year. :-) Sharon Laura H. wrote: > If so what kind of blender do you use? Guest guest
Yeah, I should mention that Judy first made me aware of the Vitamix a few years ago. But back then when I found out what they cost, I thought it was CRAZY to spend that much on a blender. Now I wouldn't trade it for anything and if my house burned down, it would be the first thing I replaced - even before my stove. :-) Sharon wwjd wrote: > Vita-Mix . Guest guest
I use a Vita Mix and couldn't live without it! I drink a smoothie every day for lunch. The Vita Mix will grind up flax seeds and even the center core of a pineapple, apple skins (use only if organic), and whatever else you give it. I think the only thing it can't do is mash potatoes. They're pretty expensive, around $500, but worth every penny! I've had mine for about 10 years and use it just about every day. If anyone wants to buy a new one, you can get free shipping if you use this code # 06-001715. Carol http://www.bluegreensolutions.com , " Laura H. Guest guest
They can make hot soup out of vegetables. They can grind wheat into flour. They can make soft-serve ice cream. There are no sharp blades. You can go back and forth with the blades to chop vegetables for soup or stew. Guest guest
We make frozen fruit and fresh fruit and veggie smoothies, slushy non-alcoholic drinks, pureed soups, milkshakes, make powdered sugar out of reg. sugar, grind garbanzo beans into flour, pinto beans into an instant refried beans powder(then you mix with water and cook on the stove), make rice flour out of rice, grind oats and grains, make a ton of great things out of the recipe book, including éclair batter, and so much more. Check out their video on the website and lots of recipes. We love the plunger for moving things down close to the blades, so everything blends well. You can also make cut cabbage slaw, using water with it and then drain the water out. The ways to use the Vita-Mix are endless. Hope this gives you an idea of how versatile this is. Sharon I am glad you got one and have enjoyed it so much. I bought mine at a demonstration at a Sam's Club. Great investment. My kids love it. A great toy to make your kitchen play even more fun and healthy. Judy - Sharon Zakhour Saturday, December 29, 2007 6:22 PM Re: Anyone make green smoothies?
