Guest guest
Sharon, I have a vitamix, have had for years, wouldn't be without mine either!!! Are you saying having the fruit and green smoothies and the fat free ice creamies you're making is what is helping you lose weight. I know Vitamix says you can lose weight with the Vitamix. I haven't been doing fruit/green smoothies long, but I am really enjoying them and feeling better all the time... Thanks, Marsha
Guest guest
I've been following Eat To Live, which is a whole 'nother subject. ;-) But, basically, I consume a large green smoothie for breakfast every day. I then eat salad with beans or blended soup for my other two meals. The frozen sorbet is an occasional treat - but it's great when I'm feeling like I need a treat. I especially love banana and frozen cherry with a bit of vanilla and a little bit of rice/oat/soy milk. You can even throw in a bit of cocoa powder for chocolate cherry. It's SO good. When you blend up fruits/veggies in the Vitamix, you actually get more nutrients from the food. I think I heard that when you chew normally, you absorb something like 25% of the nutrients (more if you chew more thoroughly, but few people do that). When you blend it up in the Vitamix (or similar), it breaks the cellular walls making it more " bio available. " You get something like 80% of the nutrients from the food. Guest guest
And you get all of what you put in the Vita-Mix!!! All the nutrients. It is much better than a juicer that spits out the rinds. Guest guest
I hadn't even thought about how much more nutrition you get out of things being so smoothly ground, over chewing. That is very interesting and makes a lot of sense. Wow. I love my Vita Mix even more now. Your recipe ideas sound yummy. Guest guest
I can't afford a vitamix right now, so what if I blended everything in my cuisinart food processor, and then blended it even more in a blender. Do you think I would still be getting more nutrients out of the veggies? Guest guest
Yes, nothing has been removed, so the nutrients would still be there. Guest guest
I've been offline all day but I agree with the others. It's worth a try! Sharon Laura H. wrote: > Awesome, thanks! >
