Guest guest
That sounds like an angel food cake pan, is that the same thing? I use springfoam, bundt and angel food can pans. I've never heard of a tube pan. In a tube pan, the hollow tube and bottom of the pan may be removed from the outer sides of the pan to make removal of the cake easier. A bundt cake pan is a type of tube pan, but the bottom of the pan in a bundt pan forms the top of the cake and does not remove. > > Starshine <starshine_seeker wrote: This looks like a really good vegan cake. Guest guest
There are many different shapes of tube pans. Tube pan - A round pan with a hollow projection in the middle, used for baking or molding foods in the shape of a ring What my mom calls a tube pan that she uses for making her fruit cake in or an angel food cake in is the first one of the 3 in this website, that has the flat bottom, tube in the middle and the tube and flat bottom come out of the pan in one piece. http://whatscookingamerica.net/Q-A/TubePan.htm http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-Chefs-Classic-Nonstick-9-Inch/dp/B0000D8CAN now here is another type of tube pan that has the rounded bottom and is usually decorative without a romovable insert. http://www.amazon.com/Bakers-Secret-Basics-Non-Stick-Fluted/dp/B00091PMSU and here is a whole collection of many different kinds. http://www.fantes.com/tube_pans.htm These all basically cook the same and most cake batters can be cooked in any of them, though I would only cook an angel food cake or a fruit cake in the one in the first picture, because they can stick and not come out nearly as easy and the removeable insert and smooth sides makes it easier to release it. Enjoy the look, Judy
Guest guest
Thanks to all who answered my question asking what is a tube pan, and to Judy who provided all of these links with pictures. I have a bundt pan and I remember that my mother had an angel food cake pan, but I never knew there were ones in which the bottom came out, and all of these many variations.
