Guest guest
We spent summer vacations in Seaside Heights when I was a kid. One year, my parents took us twice during the summer. We thought we were in heaven. There was this great old yellow house that was an ice cream parlor where we would go for sundaes. We spent hours on the amusement pier. I haven't been there in forty years. I am sure I would not recognize a thing. Jo-Ann , " Jennifer Hauser " <jennie121095 wrote: > > Jade! First, Happy New Year!!! Guest guest
I used to live in Seaside Hieghts. I actually owned a henna shop on the north end of the boardwalk near the bike rental. My family still lives near Toms River. Liudwih On Jan 3, 2008 10:50 AM, ligtstar <jo-ann wrote: > We spent summer vacations in Seaside Heights when I was a kid. Guest guest
How long ago were you in Seaside? I actually really love this area - lived here my whole life, but we are in the process of moving, inland, and I am a nervous wreck! Having lived on the ocean my whole life, I am fearing I will become claustrophobic if I am locked inland! =( , " Liudwih Frankiscdohtar " <liudwih wrote: > > I used to live in Seaside Hieghts. Guest guest
It was the 3 years prior to 9/11. I closed my shop for the last time 2 weeks before 9/11 and never re-opened. I used to go to riggers in my party days;-) Now I live in Virginia Beach. But I visit the area every month. It has changed. I haven't gone to the strip in several years. But even then the feeling of it was totally different. maybe it's just growing up. The lights don't sparkle as much and the colors aren't as vibrant. Guest guest
LOL!!! Riggers!!!! The bar that opens at 7 am! I used to go there & wait for the clubs to open. My husband's band used to play at Razzles (the bar that connected to Riggers) back in the late 80's...=) Me, I was a Bamboo & Bermuda Club gal, back when I had no kids and a little more money! LOL! =) Seaside is SO different now; they have tried to make the area more " upscale " ; lots of overpriced condos & pricey restaurants/hotels... , " Liudwih Frankiscdohtar " <liudwih wrote: > > It was the 3 years prior to 9/11. Guest guest
That was the 1960's until 1969 when my father had a heart attack and we had to move to South Jersey to be near my mother's family. We always missed North Jersey and especially the shore up there. My sister's dream is to be able to live at the shore. I am now in the mountains and she is still in South Jersey on the river. I can understand your concerns about leaving. I had the same problems when I moved to TX, which I hated. I really tried to give it a chance and make it work but it never did. I am so much happier in the east. I could not get use to never having fish. Not to mention the heat and the bugs. How far inland are you going? Guest guest
I am sorry to hear that you had to move under such rough circumstances. And, yes, when you are a " shore " person, it is hard to leave it all behind. We are moving to Cumberland County - Vineland. The price of homes is much more reasonable, and we are doubling the size of our home for $200K less than a home in Ocean County. BUT, the caviat is that the property taxes are a bit higher. LOL, just wouldn't be Jersey without the taxes! , " ligtstar " <jo-ann wrote: > > That was the 1960's until 1969 when my father had a heart attack and > we had to move to South Jersey to be near my mother's family. Guest guest
Ahh yes. Rigger home of the $3 drink and $1 beer. We would drink there before heading out to other clubs as well! Bamboo home of the fish bowl drink. THey only let you have 1. Wow that's great for the price difference. We looked for houses in TOms river and manchester. THe prices are sky hig. But Vineland is really nice! Virginia Beach is good too;-) And we are home to PETA here so it is really veggie friendly. Guest guest
I used to work in Vineland. I think you will like it there. You are not that far from the shore. Property taxes in Jersey are ridiculous. That is why I can't afford to live there anymore.
