Guest guest
The Wild Oats store I thought of as " mine " as that was my first choice for bulk spices, Fage yogurt, and especially the bulk honey I used for brewing is closed and the store space is up for rent. There are two Whole Foods stores within reasonable drive of my house but I haven't seen bulk honey there yet and the bulk spice area seems smaller, but maybe I just haven't adapted to a different layout. One smaller Wild Oats store is being remodeled as a Whole Foods and should reopen in the spring. I like Whole Foods, too, but the Wild Oats store felt more like my old food co-op, less corporate, big, loud. And it was somewhat more convenient. <sniff> OK, now that I've got that out of my system I feel a little better. :-) -ginger just outside Boston
Guest guest
Ginger, I understand your dismay. Our " local " Wild Oats (3 hours from me) is being bought out by Whole Foods. We were there about a week ago and my husband could not get the honey he likes from the bulk and many other things we pick up were gone. One store employee said that as they run out of stock they will not be getting any more due to the company change. I have a feeling that I will not be as pleased with shopping there as I have been once the change takes effect. Hope you find your Whole foods to be satisfactory for you...Jenn Ginger Fitzsimmons <matildalucet wrote: The Wild Oats store I thought of as " mine " as that was my first choice for bulk spices, Fage yogurt, and especially the bulk honey I used for brewing is closed and the store space is up for rent. Guest guest
There are 4 Wholes Foods near me and I only love the little one by the beach, they know me by first name. It's a cozy store. The new one is so large it looks like a mall inside. It's gorgeous and they have everything but I feel so overwhelmed in there. My sister shops in the large one and spends 3 hrs, she even has her lunch there, they have everything you can imagine and cook it right there in front of you in all the mini restaurants inside the store. Guest guest
I, too, will miss Wild Oats. Even the 'mall-sized' Whole Foods nearby doesn't carry the variety and a lot of things that Wild Oats does/did. Do we really need a broccoli bin 6 feet by 3 feet? I would rather have more variety! True, some of the things were pricier at Wild Oats but they had friendlier staff and when I re-used a bag, my daughter would get a wooden nickel and put it in the box for the charity she wanted our 5 cents to go to.
