Guest guest
yeah I definitely like Wild Oats over whole foods. their salads seem to be fresher and they are more in the healthfood direction
Guest guest
I would be happy if we had either one of those types of stores around where I live. As it stands now I would have to drive 4 hours to visit a Wild Oats. At least some of our local grocery stores and farmer's markets carry some good things; you just have to go to two or three differet stores to find everything. ~ PT ~ How do I love thee? Guest guest
After what happened to Fresh Fields, I really don't think we'd support it. there are two small HFS here. I think the regular customers are like patrons of a football team...G*D forbid anyone come up against them!! artichoke72x wrote: i'm really surprised richmond doesn't have a whole foods or the like. we should start an email campaign to get one built there! : ) == http://pixxart.com the Art of Living in Health, Peace, & Light
Guest guest
Really? That's a bummer. I don't know what a Fresh Fields store is, but I like the name and imagine it might have been a similar chain to a Wild Oats? We do have locally run Price Choppers, and recently dropped the PC name and went to being called 'Market of Choice'. They carry about the most variety of organic foods and vegetarian alternative product brands in the area. I try to support them with most of my shopping dollars so that they will stay in business. Gets kind of hard when a huge WallyWorld opens up and they have some of the same items for a whole dollar less often times. Thing I try to keep in mind is that " evil wally " (my pet name for that place) will only stay low and undercut the competitors until they drive them out of business. Then they are notorious for upping the prices when they are the only game in town. It is a classic catch-22, eh? The choices we are forced to make. Ahhhh! Ethics. ~ pt ~ All things merge away into everything else. That is continuity. The flux and vagary of all things. Our submergence in a sea of conventionality of almost impenetrable density.Ê ~Charles Fort, The Book of the DamnedÊ ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~> , " Pixx " <lists@p...> wrote: > ~ P_T ~ wrote: > I would be happy if we had either one of those types of > stores around where I live. > > > * > yeah, we had a Fresh Fields here about 15 or so years ago......it > lasted all of about 6 months I think. Guest guest
The grocery chains are better at carrying organic, a larger variety of vegetables and fruits, grains, they still don't replace Whole. Foods or Trader Joe's. Donna Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile Momcat <Momcat55 Thu, 10 Jan 2008 08:41:22 Re: wild oats Yes, Whole Foods bought out Wild Oats a couple months ago. Some WO stores will be left, others converted to WF and some shut down. Can anyone say " monopoly " ? Although the argument was that so many mainstream food stores now have organic/natural foods sections that there is no monopoly. Guest guest
Is there something going on with Wild Oats? The two here have both been bought out and closed down by Whole Foods. I thought this was local but it must be corporate wide. Whole Foods is the 'only show in town' now, except for what you can scavenge at local grocery stores. Which are good in some things and bad in others. I miss our Farmer's Market but they arent back in buisness till May. Kandi
