Guest guest Posted January 11, 2008 Report Share Posted January 11, 2008 Much, much less expensive being vegetarian. Also less boring than the same beef, pork, chicken, fish day after day. I could cook dinners a year and never duplicate the same thing as a vegetarian. For example, a dinner of Hoppin' John (black eye peas, tomatoes, rice, chilies), fruit salad and corn bread for 2 comes to about a dollar each, and is nicely balanced according to the vegetarian pyramid. If you are careful to cook from 'scratch' and buy in bulk you will save even more. One of the best bargains is bulk herbs and spices. Grow as many veggies and herbs as you can..Trade with others. Just way too much fun...
