Guest guest
Hahaha. Too funny. Thanks for your humor Donna Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile " rosetalleo " <rosetalleo Wed, 16 Jan 2008 17:11:41 Re: What is salsa Great descriptions indeed! and I have to say that it is much easier to make salsa than to dance salsa! Salsa dancing is caribean (Cuban and Puerto Rican) in origin rather than Spanish. Have you folks ever heard of Merengue? It is a Dominican dance, also very lively (and sexy) and it literally means 'meringue' (yes as in lemon meringue pie). Guest guest
Welcome, Ravi. Salsa is a Mexican condiment Ravi, comprised of tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cilantro (for an example). Think of it as an uncooked chutney. It is served as an accompaniment to chips or fresh vegetables and may also be the base of other recipes. Hope that is helpful. Recipe below. Chupa @@@@@ Simple Salsa 2 large, ripe tomatoes 1/4 cup mild or sweet onion 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro 3 tablespoons canned, diced green chilies 2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 clove garlic, pressed or minced (or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder) Freshly ground pepper 1. Dice the tomatoes, onion, and cilantro into chunks using a knife. Put them in a blender or small food processor. 2. Add the chilies, vinegar, salt, garlic or garlic powder, and pepper to the blender, and pulse briefly to blend. Pour into a serving bowl. Cover and keep in refrigerator until needed. Serve with 8 cups reduced-fat tortilla chips. NOTE: If you don't have a blender or food processor, dice all the ingredients into the smallest pieces possible, place in medium bowl, and stir to blend well. Yield: 10 servings, 1/4 cup each (2 1/2 cups of salsa). Guest guest
-Chupa, That is an excellent way to describe 'salsa' for those who are not familiar with Mexican/Mexican American sauce. Salsa is a Spanish word meaning 'sauce'..It is almost always " hot " made with chili peppers. Comparing it with chutney is a good comparrison. Salsa is also the name of a very lively Spanish dance. Guest guest
Sadly, Tango is the name of a fluorescent orange fizzy drink over here in the UK.
