To everyone!

Hello all,

I don't post much - but this is a great group. So much

helpful information, sharing, recipes, etc.

I'm glad people who aren't vegetarian/vegan are coming

here to check things out.

It really amazes me that non-veg people won't even

LOOK at a vegetarian cookbook. Just what to they think

is in there??? (yes, sometimes the forward will go

into rather gross details on some things) - but some

never consider eating anything made out of a

Vegetarian Cookbook.

So i make veggie food and then they'll ask about it.

A simple barley dish, grain and bean side dish, etc.

and they seemed really really surprised they like it!

It's one of those funny-odd moments :-)

Welcome everyone!!!!

Hi, I am new here also, but have posted once or twice. I have been looking at

vegetarian cookbooks and purchased a few. But I have also found vegetable

cookbooks are very good also. I just usually exchange the oil for vegetable

broth when sauteing.

My boyfriend is also a carnivor and he is also a chef. Loves to cook with

lots of oil and butter. We have gotten to the point now where my food is cooked

in a separate pan from his so that I don't get all the additional fat.

When I first went vegetarian I lost about 50 lbs, and kept it off quite well

(got the chef boyfriend around the same time). I quit smoking and gained back

around 40 lbs (junkfood binge). I am now trying to get that weight off, but it

is slow going. I also have high blood pressure, high cholestoral and am

diabetic. Need to loose the weight.

Everyone has such great suggestions and ideas on this site I wish I had joined

sooner.

Have to go and figure out what to make for supper, kida are hungry and we have

hockey and figure skating this evening. They said they want real food, so that

means not much veggies, or that is what they think.
