Marilyn Daub Vanceburg, KY>>> Yes, Zelda, Shaman gets some other things added too, for variety. He loves parmesan cheese, and will eat anything sprinkled with it. Today I added that and just a little alfredo sauce to his chicken and whole wheat spiral pasta. If I have leftover egg from dipping something in egg (used to be flounder, not sure I've ever made anything vegetarian that way), I scramble it up for him, but he's not really crazy about it unless it's mixed with something more interesting. He sometimes gets a few bites of my cheese omelettes though. He eats tuna too, and canned salmon, mixed with some whole grain bread cubes or broken corn tortillas and a little mayonnaise. I figured since he's a Northern breed, fish would be a natural part of his diet, and it's great for days I don't have anything cooked. I make turkey and oat meatloaf, or pork with brown rice. He only gets beef once in a great while. He doesn't like veggies unless I cook them to mush and he can't taste them. Otherwise he uses those big teeth like tweezers and delicately throws them one by one on the floor. But he does like some new treats I got him that are dried sweet potato wrapped with a bit of dried duck. Those are apparently addictive, because since I got them, he begs for them. He loves dried apricots and dried apples too. Oh, and these pea pod crisps I get once in awhile, a mixture of rice and peas to snack on, like chips, but baked. I don't eat cottage cheese, so he doesn't really get that, though he sometimes will get a bit of light cream cheese, light whipping cream, or regular cheddar cheese mixed in. He only gets the one main meal a day like this, and it's supplemented with a bowl of Wellness brand dry food, and numerous treats that I try to get as healthy as possible! Whole dried meats are preferred! I don't know why, Marilyn, but when I eat yogurt, my whole body goes way too acidic, from the lactic acid I guess, so I've quit buying that, so he doesn't get it either. I didn't used to have any problems with it. Now I really have to work at staying more alkaline, and eating to make that happen. I really only use a few dairy products, no milk, cottage cheese, or yogurt, and only some cheeses. I use a lot of Silk though! Guest guest
Yes, my angel gets meals cooked by me. She usually gets what we eat, but when my husband is away, as he will be for the next two weeks, I will cook for her because she has to have meat for a healthy heart and I don't eat that. She was sick earlier this week, scared me to death, so I made a big pot of chicken soup which she has been eating all week. Ther will be one more serving tomorrow. I bought a roast today that I will cook tomorrow or Tuesday for her to eat for 4 meals. Jo-Ann , BarbaraJean1732 wrote: >> LOLOL!!! Guest guest
Just make sure you don't use onions in the food for the dog. They are worse then chocolate for them. Guest guest
Mine have free-feed kibble. Then I make their own soft food. That is why I wasn't worried with the problems with Menu Foods when the animals were being killed by the additives from China. I do about 1/3 meat, 1/3 cooked grains, and 1/3 raw vegetables chopped small. Then I add something that I am cooking. Occasionally, at breakfast, I make egg and cheese on biscuits, so each dog gets one. They look forward to those and can tell when I am making them. Instead of meat, I use fish at least once per week in their food. Sometimes I have pancakes in the morning, and they love them, so I have to cook a large batch. My vet cannot believe the health of my dogs and cats.
