Does anyone on here belong to a freecycle group. Is it just me or are a lot of people taking the p*** now, latest requests have been for guitars and amplifiers, mp3 players ( must be over 1gb), etc.........I have put stuff on there for people and never had any replies, all I see these days are twice as many people asking as offering. Sad. The Valley Vegan...............Peter H

Hi Peter,

Yep, they sure do get greedy. I own one site and run another. On

Chicago we have over 12,000 members and the lists are unbelievable

for some of them.

And that is just from the members in other states trying to ride for

free...

I am on a local one.

It is fairly busy, but I do see some requests too.

I don't think requests should be allowed.

I am also on a uk for postage only , where you advertise stuff you

don't want

and people can send you the postage costs if they want it. You them send it to

them in the

post.

  • 1 year later...

Most of the time I list offers and deliver them. I'm almost always in a members

area so I will drop the items off. When I do this I run into people who will

ask me if I can take things off their hands, books, magazines, towels, and the

wonderful rice cooker I was able to pass to Jeanne. Freecycle is A+

Mindy consider starting one up. You have people in here that can get you

started, you will gain members a few at a time and you can have co-owners and

moderators. It would be a fantastic thing if you could do it.

Donna,

I believe that the name and logo 'Freecycle' is a registered

trademake and one cannot use it. You would have to choose another

name and be careful not to infringe on their name.

You can start a local Freecycle using their name only with their

permission and instructions.

If you have the time and inclination you can start one. This is a good time

with all the publicity we have had lately. How far away is the nearest group?

Thanks Donna. I will look into that for sure. I would have to have a

co-owner or moderator for sure since I don't have a working home

computer at the moment.
