I read the recipe for basamic brown rice baked so I tried it. The recipe said

to measure EXACTLY so i t would come out right. I made a slight mistake. You

were supposed to boil the water and butter and salt and then pour it boiling

into the dish with rice and cover it immediately. Since the dish I had it in

was kind of floppy it bent a little and poured boiling water into my hand. This

jolted me a tad so I jumped and spilled just a little of the water, not much,

just enough to make the top of the rice chewy. I figured that by stirring it

together it would be ok. Well, not exactly. It was just pretty good rice mixed

with chewy rice. I ate a bunch of it and was pretty happy with it. However,

when it cooled it was much more chewy. I now have it in the oven with some

water and I am cooking it a bit more. jeanne in ny

Hi all! I am new to the group and just wanted to say " HEY " .

Last year I went Vegan during my fast and decided to stay Vegan

after my fast this year.

My husband and I have 4 children ranging in ages 24-13. We also

have 2 grand daughters ages 3 and 1. Oh, lets not forget the " other

children " 1 dog, 2 cats and 1 ferret, all rescued.

My husband and I are fairly active and in good health but feel

more " middle aged " on some days............HA! So, we thought we

would be proactive about our health .

I think this baked brown rice recipe will work out just fine for

me. I have seen alot of really good recipes here and enjoy reading

the messages and helpful hints.

Go in a Good Way,

Shawndra
