Guest guest
I spent a lot of time the other day in the new aisle in Wegmans store. It is fascinating. There are so many things organic. I did find out that you have to really read the ingredients as some of the things in that department have meat in them. I wound up lugging a bundle of things home to try out. I bought a package of veg protein. It looks like it will take a long time to use up. Can some one tell me how to keep it so that it stays fresh? I am using the emails to reach my grandson to ask him many questions. He has been a vegetarian for years and when he comes home to visit he brings all sorts of food that he has made. Mostly to be sure that he and his partner have food to eat but also to let us know that they make dilicious food. They make lasagna and instead of using noodles they slice up eggplant very thin and use that in it's place. They did not bring that home but he told me how they used it so I can try it. I don't have a recipe but I think I can muddle through. jeanne in ny ______________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
I've noticed that my local markets have now done away with 'the organic aisle' and now have the organics along side the reg. food groups.-Now I like this idea because it saves time going back and forth if I can't find what I'm looking for in a specific dept. I am remembering the days when I couldn't find organic products even in the health food stores. There was no such thing as Vegetarian items on a restaurant menu. How times have changed. Life is just way to much fun sometimes. Guest guest
Hi, Marilyn, Do you have a Kroger Marketplace? I am just north of Dayton and we just got one. It is incredible! They have about 475 types of produce, with about 50+ organic. What I think is really interesting is that in some cases, organic and non-organic are the same price. I usually see broccoli at $1.99/bunch and several different types of apples priced the same, also. I also see more and more customers buying from the organic section. Guest guest
Jeanne, I also make lasagna that way. I just use a regular lasagna recipe and substitute the eggplant for the noodles. very tasty and less calories.
