You should join the breadmachine group and find out how others like

and use the machine you're thinking of buying. If you're just looking

for an average breadmachine you can buy one (that's been on somebody

elses' counter or closet) for $2-$10 at a goodwill or thrift store. I

have a Panasonic that I've used weekly for 5 or six years to knead my

small batches of sourdough bread that I usually bake in the oven. The

oven allows a much better shape and crust on the loaf than baking in

the machine. I have a larger mixer too, but I believe for their bit of

dough the bread machines do a better job of mixing and kneading than

anything else -- including hand kneading and " no-knead " breads.

You could also try freecycle.org, where you can get and give anything you like

for free! I've given away a bread machine or two on here, and received cast

iron skillets, a music keyboard, you name it! :)
