Guest guest
I was just wondering what you all’s opinion is… Sometimes I watch Animal Planet when the topic is something like Animal Rescue or releasing wild critters back to the wild… Lo and behold, I was watching the wrong thing one day and the announcer kept repeating OVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVER… The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized…. The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized…. The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized…. The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized…. <sound of Cynthia hitting head against wall> If they said something like, “We did not know how to deal with this animal in a way it could understand so we filled it full of chemicals and killed it,” perhaps more people would feel the urgency to adopt. I am NOT talking about critically ill suffering animals here, although I think often there are ways for sick animals to be pain-free and live the remainder of their lives. I am talking about animals that are HUMANELY EUTHANIZED because no one could make them behave. HUMANELY EUTHANIZED?? What does that mean – we were nice and polite when we killed them? <Laying down with cold cloth on forehead> Cynthia
Guest guest
Humanely euthanised means, ending its existance in the least stressful manner to the animal. Perhaps because they are terminally ill and suffering intense pain, or perhaps because no one gives a damn and its too much trouble to find a home/look after themselves. Either way it ammounts to the same thing, end of the road. Euthanasia in humans is not a bad idea in my opinion for terminally ill people who want to go with some sort of dignity on their own terms. However to assist in this is illegal in this country, you have to go abroad. Dont worry about the things you can`t change, just plough on trying to change the things you can. Absolutely. And vent here if you feel the need. But don't waste your precious energy on things you can't change, it makes you have less energy for the things you *can*. Guest guest
I should hope that if I had cancer of some sort that I would be euthanized. rather than be in constant pain. in this world, I tried. I am triying while I can. to figure it out. to make a difference. to know why and how. I believe this is just one reality of many and I will go home wereever that is. in a way we never die, someone said we are the stuff of stars and there we will go again. liquid, bone, feathers, it is all me or was or will be. we are all connected. I have been to other planets but the knowdlege is hidden right now the thing that makes my heart glow and my eyes cry. , peter hurd <swpgh01 wrote: > > Humanely euthanised means, ending its existance in the least stressful manner to the animal. Guest guest
Hi Cynthia, I agree. I don't understand why, mature adults need to be protected from the truth with euphamisms. if they killed the animal, they should just say so. I think it makes it better from a " sensitivity " point of view. but really the big overall problem with dogs and cats is that they are left to breed and breed on the streets. cities don't know what to do with animals, people are not educated on how to " house train " them. Adds make them cute. kids are cruel to them. they starve. it is really unfortunate. we don't want them in the city and we've taken away their habitat. it is worse in other countries, where dogs are seen starving to death. no one cares or has the patience. someone once said. " be careful what you domesticate, the responsibility will be yours forever " , " Cynthia Gadarian " <cgadarian wrote: > > > > I was just wondering what you all's opinion is. > > Sometimes I watch Animal Planet when the topic is something like Animal > Rescue or releasing wild critters back to the wild. > > Lo and behold, I was watching the wrong thing one day and the announcer > kept repeating OVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVER. > > The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized.. > > The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized.. > > The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized.. > > The animal was unadoptable so it was humanely euthanized.. > > <sound of Cynthia hitting head against wall> > > If they said something like, " We did not know how to deal with this animal > in a way it could understand so we filled it full of chemicals and killed > it, " > > perhaps more people would feel the urgency to adopt.
