spiders in your homes

Hi,

Just wondering how you deal with spiders when they come in to your home?

I opened the cubboard under the sink the other night and there was a huge fat

one just

sitting there. I carefully picked it up with a dustpan and brush and put it

outside, it

seemed ok as I watched it waddle off down the steps. If they are small I ignore

them or if

they are the spinning kind I pick them up and put them on my houseplants.

They seem to get in the bath quite often and this can be quite tricky if we want

a bath.

What do you do with them?

I usually collect them and put them outside, my wife and kids are both scared of them and I have to rescue the little arachnids before their neuroses take over and they flatten the poor things. How well they fair outside I couldnt say, I`m just glad we dont have poisonous ones in this country! well...

all spiders are venomous...

its just that most spiders either

a. don't pump out enough venom to harm a human

b. it isn't that strong

c. their jaws couldn't pierce your skin if they had visegrips added on...

sometime back i read some article about a species of spider being found underground somewhere (sewer, cellar, subway..i just can't recall) in jolly ol england that had been thought to be extinct and it's venom could be harmful..but..that was a long time ago...dunno wot ever became of it.... peter hurd Feb 21, 2006 7:17 AM Re: spiders in your homes

I have a plastic tub that we 'capture' them in and release them in

the garden.

We used to get loads of spiders indoors. Since we cleared the ivy

from the walls (which came right up to the door) we don't get so many.

Hi~

I usually ignore them. For the big ones if they are in a central

area like next to the bed, in the child's room, in the bath etc, I

have to chase them off. If they are little and in a central area I

move them usually with a tissue. But I like the dustpan idea. This

would definately produce less screaming from me and the child who

hovers near when the move is going on. Not too near mind you. :)

I never kill them and cannot call DH for help because he will not

move them. He'll either leave them be or squash them if me or my son

are not liking their choice of location. So I cannot solicit his

help.

Then I also have to keep the dog from them or he will chase and eat

them.

Poor little spiders...

I have taught my son that spiders are beneficial and that he should

not be afraid of them and he does respect that. But I know if I am

not home and he sees one, DH will be summoned to " remove " it.

most of the spiders indoors here make either tiny wispy webs in the corners, or

make little tight funnel webs under something, like a cabinet

they don't bother me, i don't bother them....

orb weavers and the like generally don't come in...

Ours tend to make quite big webs if left to themselves.

They make webs. I clean up the unoccupied ones and leave the occupied

ones alone. They're not hurting me.

When I was a kid there was a big spider who lived behind the fridge. I got

quite attached to him, and called him Fred :-)
