Its about time they put a stop to this its disgusting riding horses to their deaths.............I cant wait to hear what the wishy washy RSPCA has to say! Cheltenham to investigate deaths Five horses died during racing on Thursday at CheltenhamOrganizers of the Cheltenham Festival insisted the course was safe despite the deaths of nine horses over four days of racing. Two animals died in the first two days, six horses died as

a result of falls on Thursday and another fatality in Friday's final race marred National Hunt racing's showpiece event. Cheltenham's managing director Edward Gillespie said the death toll was "unusual and very regrettable". "We will review and investigate each and every injury, let alone each and every fatality. Safety is our absolute number one priority here," he said. "But where there are horses racing there will be injuries - some of which can't be repaired. "The going is good, no faster, and we are satisfied there isn't a problem with the ground. Everything we have done is to

minimize manageable risk Cheltenham boss Edward Gillespie "The field size is something that we've looked at over the years and we've reduced them in many of the races. "Our course is very, very wide and we've widened it by five yards (meters) in the last two years. "Everything we have done is to minimize manageable risk, and this, it appears, is a combination of different injuries being inflicted sadly on these horses." On Thursday, Millenaire, Basilea Star and Mr Babbage all died in the National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup while two more - Holy Orders and Olaso - broke bones in their legs and were destroyed. Sh Boom - who fell during the Ladbrokes World Hurdle - died from his injuries early on Friday. It was the

worst one-day death toll at the Festival for 20 years. Buck Whaley was the final victim of the festival which has been criticised by animal rights campaigners for the high death toll. The RSPCA is always very concerned when racehorses die RSPCA spokesman Animal rights group Animal Aid called for the public to boycott the meeting and suggested that Prince Charles and his wife

Camilla should stay away on Friday "out of respect for the horses that have died". Animal Aid director Andrew Tyler said: "There is no justification for events such as this to continue while routinely horses are dying." The RSPCA also said it would investigate the high number of fatalities. A spokesman said: "The RSPCA is always very concerned when racehorses die, and we will look at each incident in great detail to find out what happened and why and then take action as necessary. "Until our equine vet and equine consultant have thoroughly investigated the circumstances surrounding each death we are unable to say anything further." Peter H

in my town they is kennel racing,

i get annoyed when the radio commercials come on and

they say that it is a great way to win money.

The vegans in my town, i find, are more into

taking about recepies and picnics,

than to do " action " stuff.

now that I am driving, I am planning to get more involved.

I don't have my own car yet, but I feel more

confident on the roads.

it is taking me a long while to drive, due to my

mental block of hating cars.

many many moons ago

we were going from connecticut into massachusetts....

it was a dark winter nite

and there were these flashing lights on the side of the road

my father pulled over and got out...

and...being the nosy lil 9 yr old at the time, i jumped out almost immdiately

after him..

a highway patrol car was on the side of the road......gumball on top rolling and

flashing...

in the reflecting light, i could see this figure standing in a field off to the

side...

my father was this eerie shape walking toward him...a flickering dark mass

against a night darkened field

i scampered out there...thru the bare remaining patches of snow and sticky mud

the cop was standing over a mass on the ground.....

and..in the flashing strobe of the cop car....it resolved into a pile of

dogs....

greyhounds....

the owners, no longer needing the dogs since they were now older and could no

longer race...decided to cut their liability

and killled em all

and cut their ears off, (where they had ID tattoos)...

and left their bodies in a muddy farmers field.....

Not nice! Colin's mum rescued a reject greyhound. He was a great big soft

mad dog - taller than me when he had his paws on my shoulders.
