Guest guest
So now and then in a hummus thread, someone will say that the way to get really smooth hummus is to peel the garbanzos. Yeah. As if. Anyway, today I was stressing about getting all the housework and cooking done in time for my wife's surprise birthday party. The garbanzos were done cooking and I noticed that maybe thirty of the peels had come off and were floating on top of the cooked beans. Suddenly, in a blinding flash of enlightenment (ha!), I decided that the way to unstress about the time/work/cooking thing would be to step back, sit down, and take a half hour to peel garbanzos. So I did. It did indeed take a half hour, it was pleasant and meditative work, and it did indeed make the smoothest hummus I've ever made. If I ever feel like I have the time to spare, I'll probably do it again. I'm amused that the pile of peels was almost as big as the pile of peeled beans. Guest guest
I was feeling this way, like you, very philosophical and coming to the realization that one day I will no longer be, I will disappear, not be anywhere, my voice will no longer be heard, and my eyes will not see. I heard the stillness of my absence. and it is ok, I am glad that when I was sperm and my other half egg.. where able to come into this world and be here for a little while. to visit. the things that I will take with me are not tangible nor can they be written or spoken in words, just like me they are nothing. that is no thing. one of them is the magic and the happiness that nature brings me.. because I am her and she is me. it seems impossible, but it isn't really to think that I will not die, simply became something else, perhaps a star, perhaps a dog, perhaps a plant. and if I don't that's ok too. I can die tommorrow because I have experience love today. , peter hurd <swpgh01 wrote: > > Sorry, but my life is half over, I dont want to waste the rest of it, however, each to his/he own................... > > The Valley Vegan............... > > serene <serene wrote: > So now and then in a hummus thread, someone will say that the way to > get really smooth hummus is to peel the garbanzos. > > Yeah. Guest guest
Hi serene, when I was a kid, my little cousin and I used to try to count the grains of sand on the beach in dominican republic. we were so happy doing that. I thought it was possible. I think that some people might be feeling toxic. my husband works for a bank and I see how this atmosphere influences him. if there aren't any trees around then how are people going to know what it is like to fall asleep in a hammock with the soft wind carresing your body. if there aren't any trees around then how are people going to know what it's like to fall asleep in a treehouse, among leaves and birds. if there aren't any trees around then how are children going to know where fruits and nuts come from, and to catch them as they fall off the branch. how are they going to know that they can touch the sky if they climb a tree... , serene <serene wrote: > > peter hurd wrote: > > > Sorry, but my life is half over, I dont want to waste the rest of it, > > however, each to his/he own................... > > For me, doing something pleasant and meditative is the exact opposite of > wasting my life, but as you say, to each his own. > > serene > -- > The Reluctant Vegan: http://www.reluctantvegan.com >
