Guest guest
sooooo last nite after much indecision and changed directions, we ended up at Cafe Gratitiude in Berkeley a relatively newish place, maybe been open 6 mos? we've passed it a million times, and always said " we should go there " and end up instead hitting thai delight or cha ya well....finally made it there last nite raw vegan cafe, mostly organic we've heard mostly great things about the place well mixed review from us... its in a nice setting in berkeley...on shattuck...brick building varied menu..all raw...from shakes/smoothies to full entrees to desserts... and..with a name like cafe gratitude, they've DEFINATELY have hit the, well, hippie, attitude/wavelength at first they tried to seat us at a round table with a bunch of other people....not our style, sitting with a bunch of strangers eating dinner..so asked t o sit outside pro...nice small patio outdoor dining area...interesting wattle type stick fence surrounding it con...yer right on shattuck, so while you get plenty of people watching, you also get everyone walking by smoking, which fer some reason bugged me last night SERVICE WAS OK..OUR SERVER WAS NICE, BUT...FOOD SERVICE WAS SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW whoops..didn't mean to shout.... we had: red bhutan rice with " stir fry vegetables " (warm grain dice with raw veggies) med. plate (falafel, salad, some other things) coconut thai soup miso soup and fer dessert.. chocolate mud slide cake and a ice cream and brownie sundae also..had 5 different glasses of organic red wine some of the food was very good..the miso soup and the rice stir fry were very tasty...some of the dishes were just a tad tooo grainy/granola..but still good pretty interesting stuff...haven't been to a raw resturant in awhile... oh..and everything has a sorta hippie/new age name that starts with " i am " i am thankful i am beautiful i am happy i am thriving and on and on some of the waitstaff it seems took it all a lil bit overboard..we could hear em inside when they'd deliver someones meal ..but..eh..its berkeley.... there was also someones birthday inside...cuz all of sudden they started playing that " today its your birthday " song (beatles?) and everyone was clapping and singing..i thought it was cute..rebecca thought it was annoying... and final note a tad pricey.... bill came to $88....before tip.... we'll prolly go back again if just to have dessert and wine.... I don't wanna be no war hero Don't want a movie made about me I don't wanna be no war hero Just get away from the madness I see
