Guest guest
Well it is probably the snow birds that have arrived there to get out of the cold in other parts of the country. They feel the cold much more. I was in shorts today and outside taking a walk. It was 62. I love my shorts.....lol......... I think that a lot of folks that choose to live in warmer climates, do so because they chill easily. My mom has always chilled easily and I've always gotten hot easily..... Now it was God's will for a hot blooded person like me to live this far south. He has a sense of humor, of course my husband that grew up in Ontario canada, much prefers the warmer temps down here. LOL I've really found that I enjoy the longer growing seasoning and the green for 8 1/2 months of the year. All our bodies seem to react to temps differently. I live in the AC or water during the summer here...... The other 3 seasons though are very pleasant here, to me...... Judy - Katie M Friday, February 08, 2008 8:55 PM Re: dinner tonight - Katie I was in Florida once, In Fort Lauderdale. I was amazed to see the folks wearing down parkas and gloves when I was wearing shorts and a short sleve shirt. We start wearing summer clothes at 60*. Brrrrr your temps on the frigid side.... though it sounds like you are used to it... Judy - Katie M Friday, February 08, 2008 7:47 PM Re: dinner tonight We are having a regular heat wave today. Temperatures are up above zero for the first time in a week, Of course it is only 2* above, but that is better than the 18 below it was. I complain about the cold, but wouldn't live anywhere else, by choice. It is beautiful and as long as I can keep the house warm, I am happy. Speaking of keeping the house warm, the best way to do it is to turn on the over and get busy cooking. Where are you that it is 60*. I won't see that until June. Katie wwjd <jtwigg wrote: Katie your dinner sound yummy too. I'll have to try that lentil loaf soon. Sending you some of our 60 degree day time temps, all the way to Alaska......... I know it must be quite cold and the countryside and lakes covered in a beautiful blanket of white up your way. We're in the 30's at night, which I am enjoying..... very much. - Katie M Friday, February 08, 2008 6:50 PM Re: dinner tonight sSounds yummy. I put together the lentil loaf, everything but the baking and have it ready to go in the oven later. It sure tastes good and it isn't even cooked yet. I am in Alaska, so several hours behind most everyone else, It is still mid afternoon here and we won't be having dinner for several hours. Katie wwjd <jtwigg wrote: We are have a some great northern beans and black beans cooked together with some rotel(tomatoes with green chilies), some herbs and bay leaf, steam sauted collard greens with garlic and onion, some of the Mushroom Walnut Loaf with gravy from last nights dinner....... cornbread and lemonade. Judy - Katie M Friday, February 08, 2008 6:13 PM dinner tonight After the rave reviews for the lentil loaf, I am making it for dinner. I will serve it with Au Gratin potatoes and romaine and spinach salad and brocolli. Tomorrow I am looking forward to an oriental stri-fry. What are you having? Guest guest
What part of Ontario, Canada did your hubby grow up in. I am in Ontario, Canada and we have been having a very mixed winter. As low as -38 in temp but -54 with the wind chill and as high as +5, remember that is celcius. I am also a hot blooded person and the cold doesn't bother me, my mother the cold blooded person spends the winters in Arizona and tells me how she wears sweatshirts and jeans when it is 60F. I would be in shorts and tanks. Barb, Thunder Bay, On, Canada > Now it was God's will for a hot blooded person like me to live this far south. Guest guest
He grew up in the Toronto area and his family lives in the suburbs around there and further out. We were talking to his sister that is up in Collingwood last week and the ski slopes there have had an abundant snowfall this year, she said. Her husband is very happy and gets a pass at the ski resort there every winter. Last winter they got very little snow and the slopes had a very short season.......... I'll have to ask my husband where Thunder Bay is. Judy - alabama - Barb Friday, February 08, 2008 10:20 PM Re: temps - Katie What part of Ontario, Canada did your hubby grow up in.
