Guest guest
I want to grow some anaeim peppers so I can make chilli Relenno. I can't get them in any of the markets or stores here in Anchorage. Does anyone grow their own that I could get a couple seeds from. If any of you recycled gardeners could spare a couple I surely would appreciate it. Katie Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
We get the Anaheims here in Seattle. I could send you the seeds out of them??? Do you not get Anaheim seeds up there? I don't know about chili rellenos, but after living in NM I don't know how anyone eats eggs or hamburger without them LOL. Let me know if that will work for you and I'd be happy to send some. I just wonder tho if there is a way to get seeds for the Hatch chilis. They are the best, although I think it may have something to do with their growing season vs. type of Anaheim. , Katie <cozycate wrote: > > > > I want to grow some anaeim peppers so I can make chilli Relenno. Guest guest
Katie, Are you sure you want Anaheim peppers rather than Poblano peppers? The poblanos are what people here use for chiles rellenos. Pictures of poblanos (with a few Anaheim on the side for the first) http://www.castlemainefarm.com/poblanos_sm.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1057/967606989_b6722dc8e3.jpg Anaheim peppers: http://z.about.com/d/phoenix/1/0/z/I/peppergreenchile.jpg http://www.peoriagardens.com/images/vegherb/PepperHotAnaheim.jpg I have been drying seeds from peppers I get at the store. I could dry some and send? I have some seeds but our pepper seeds got all mixed up accidentally so now we have a 'pepper medley' pack LOL, a lucky seed pepper pack, anything that sprouts and looks like a pepper is good to us.... , Katie <cozycate wrote: > > > > I want to grow some anaeim peppers so I can make chilli Relenno. Guest guest
No, I am not at all sure! I want to make chiles rellenos like at the mexican restaurant, deliscious, but not hot. Someone told me Aneheim so that was what I asked for. I guess what I really want is poblanos. I can't get them here in Anchorage either. rosetalleo <rosetalleo wrote: Katie, Are you sure you want Anaheim peppers rather than Poblano peppers? Guest guest
To Katie I would be happy to get you a package of seeds. Email me your address to jpryor030 <jpryor030 , and I will get them for you next time I go to the garden center. I remember craving them when I was at Wainwright. I would be happy to aid and abet your craving.----Jackie , " jpryor030 " <jpryor030 wrote: > > > We get the Anaheims here in Seattle. I could send you the seeds out of > them??? Guest guest
Maybe some Mexican restaurants use Anaheims? Poblano's are easier to peel, and once peeled they are still quite 'meaty' if you know what I mean. They are used in California for chiles rellenos and many other pepper dishes....I like them a lot but they are 'medium' hot. The problem is that they vary, some are hotter than others. If you would like some of the seeds send me an email with your physical address or PO box and I'll put some seeds in an envelope for you. Guest guest
No thanks, If they are medium hot and unpredictable besides, I wouldn't be happy with them. Maybe I better stick with the canned Ortego peppers. I was told those are anaheim. Katie rosetalleo <rosetalleo wrote: Maybe some Mexican restaurants use Anaheims?
