Guest guest
Hello everyone!! I have been wondering how I can replace chicken in a recipe. Let's say the recipe calls for one pound of chicken breast what besides tofu can I use? I'm sure there are products out there, but I need a little bit of help from all of you. I don't know what I would do without this group. Thanks for much everyone!! Hugs, Mindy
Guest guest
I use Worthington FriChik http://www.kelloggs.com/cgi-bin/brandpages/product.pl?product=374 & company=41 It is a meat substitute vegetarian products and so delicious. They come in a broth in a can. You can bread and fry them, dice them up and put in casseroles, stir fries, " chicken salad " , soups, etc........ It is an already cooked product, so just add to recipes. These are very quick to use and make a delicious meal with. Have a look at all their line of products. http://www.kelloggs.com/brand/worthington/ We have eaten and used most all of these and really love the variety they give us in meal preparations and yummy tastes. Amazon carries most of their canned products. They can sometimes be hard to locate on amazon, so I do a google search for _______ on Amazon and it gives me the direct link for it. Their prices are great and they offer free shipping........ I usually have them at my door in less than a week. Also www.adventistbookcenters.org carry the full line of canned and frozen Worthington/Loma Linda Meat substitutes as well as the Vibrant Life, Cedar Lake and others. They have lots of the vegetarian Chicken and beef seasonings, tvp and other dry products. Most all carry the Veganaise and Tofutti cream cheese and Sour Supreme(tofu sour cream). The health food items are listed in the website, but you can locate the stores on their website to find one close to you. They will also ship to you, if you don't want to drive to their locations, which are worldwide. Other Health food carries their products too. Look for Morningstar Farms frozen products in your grocery store. Most all carry them. Here's to lots of great cooking, Judy - Mindy-n-Shawn Friday, February 22, 2008 1:07 PM Replacing in a recipe Hello everyone!! I have been wondering how I can replace chicken in a recipe. Guest guest
Mindy, I'm sure you will get a lot of answers like, tofu, tempeh, etc. but the product that my meat-eating boyfriend has liked the best when replacing chicken breast in a recipe is Quorn brand naked chick'n cutlet. http://www.quorn.us/cmpage.aspx?pageid=462 & productid=152 I personally also love a product called 'Veat'. I've never tried their chicken breast but have replaced chicken in recipies with their nuggets. http://www.veat.com/products.html -Shirley ______________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Quorn and Veat are delicious and The Worthington Fri Chik is wonderful, I can't find it here in L.A. I'm not close to a SDA bookstore and Whole Foods doesn't carry it. Judy sent me a can and I believe I licked the lid, the gravy is out of this world good.
