Guest guest
I am curious if anyone owns a Sumeet grinder. I have never used a Vitamix, but it sounds like it would do the same thing. I have seen Sumeet “mixies” for right around $200, and the Vitamixes seem to be quite a bit more. It appears (but having used neither one I would not know) that the Vitamix can be used as a blender more than the Sumeet could. Anyone have any experience? I may have to ask on the Indian Cooking group... Judy B On Behalf Of Sharon Zakhour Sunday, February 24, 2008 10:13 AM Re: Blender Recommendations - Vita Mix Yes, I have to echo this. When I first heard about a Vitamix (from Judy, no less) and then heard the price, I thought _no way_!!! I thought that was a ludicrous price for a BLENDER. Then I needed make drastic changes to my health and I wanted to make green smoothies which require a very strong blender. I bought a Vitamix, gave my cheapie blender away, and never looked back. If my house burned down and I had to replace everything, a Vitamix would be one of the first things I'd replace. I use it every day, mostly to make green smoothies, but also to puree soups, make flour (I grind barley to make barley flour), make spice powders, and frozen " ice cream " desserts (throw in frozen fruit, a tiny bit of liquid, some vanilla or a date and, voila). I am on the Vitamix and, over and over, am impressed by their excellent customer service. In fact, Vitamix also sells non-stick cookware that looks very impressive. But it costs a LOT of money, so I've never tried it. But I thought of it yesterday when I read the " Honestly " thread. Makes the smoothie smoothies out of fresh and frozen fruit with a little liquid added.
