freezing citrus

I was at the store today and they were selling oranges and grapefruits by the

bag for a really good price. Has anyone ever peeled citrus, then frozen the

fruit to use later for juicing?

How did it turn out?

You know, we have one large tree ready to pick and they are juice oranges. It

is so many

oranges that I have been peeling them and juicing them with the juicer. Better

yield and

great texture, I am freezing it in quart or half pint containers since it is the

only way I can

figure to preserve it. I have not thawed any yet, however, I juice limes,

lemons and myers

lemons in ice cube containers, and pop them into plastic bags. I can tell you

the juice

from those is great, so I expect the orange juice will also freeze well. I hope

it does!

The other possibility is to make marmalade but they have lots of seeds. That

would be a

lot of work to take the seeds out!

I wish I had acess to such a citrus blessing...! Perhaps you can plant blood

oranges...the best orange that I've ever tasted...

Consider making maramalade though....segment the oranges instead of juicing

them...the seeds will be easier to remove...use your rind...and go see the Sure

Jell website for some of the best citrus jam and marmalade recipes!

I do feel blessed, but it is hard to keep up with all the fruit!

Finished making juice out of the fruit I collected, that was only half

the one juice orange tree. I am trying to get help with marmalade,

then I will collect the rest of it. That it only one tree. I have

another juice orange tree that is uncollected, a grapefruit tree, and

a very large, minneola tree with lots of fruit getting ripe. I wonder

if there is such thing as grapefuit and/or minneola marmalade....why not?

Blood oranges are delicious indeed, and so pretty! (but I think I

better take care of the trees I have before planting new ones....LOL)
