I live a couple of hours North of St. Louis, and I am always looking for good places to buy these types of foods. Thanks~ Tina Tina, The name of the store is " Global Foods " , and it is off of Kirkwood Rd., which is actually part of Lindberg Blvd., which is really just highway Rt. 67. The road runs north & south, and the store is not huge, but you can see it--on your right as you drive south on the road. It's just a block or so north of Adams St. (which is an east-west street, right in the center of Kirkwood) and a few blocks south of Manchester Rd., which is another main east-west road. Here is the link to the web page, and I was surprised to see it has a good map you can use to get directions: http://globalfoodsmarket.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage & Itemid=1 They have a remarkable variety of foods--each aisle is like a different country! For really good beans, legumes, lentils, and such--go to the " Mexico " , the " India " , and there are a couple of middle aisles (which country, I can't remember) that have some really NICE small bright red lentils. The aisles for the Asian countries will have lots of rice--at the front of the store is a HUGE rack (unless they change things around from time to time) that holds large and small bags of many kinds of rice. They sell large bags of brown rice and I remember a friend of mine tried that dark purple-colored rice from there. The produce section is very interesting. My DH, who is a minister, took a church-related trip to Liberia, in Africa in 2006 and again just a couple weeks ago. He encountered there something called " sweet potato greens " . It's the leaves and small stems of the vines from sweet potato plants, which are very nutritious, and (in Liberia) are served often as a topping on cooked rice. My picky DH LOVED the sweet potato greens, and this place, Global Foods had them. (My own first experience of cooking the greens wasn't all that impressive, LOL! But the second trip my DH made to Africa, he made the effort to find out from a " local " woman just HOW these greens are prepared, so I might go to Global Foods, get some greens, and try it again! I hope you like what you find there. You might also try Whole Foods, which, I have learned are in TWO locations in the St. Louis area now. One is just south of the Galleria, on Brentwood...the other is off of Ladue, (I think the neighborhood is called Clayton--or maybe there's a street by that name--it's just a little north and east of the other Whole Foods.) When DH and I have any reason to go down to St. Louis, which is about an hour and 45 minutes from where we live--I beg for a chance to stop at Whole Foods, Global Foods, or both. There is a Trader Joe's just a block or so from the Brentwood Whole Foods, but having been there, I was less impressed with their offerings, which seemed to be more pre-packaged. Best wishes to you in exploring Global Foods! (A member from the slow-cooker recommended it to me--it's nice to have some info to pass along to someone else!) Blessings and peace! --Laura B., in Illinois
