I saw that commercial too. I have not heard anything about it. I say clean

your system from the inside out with healthy veggies, water, grains and

wholesome food.

OT: Fact or Quack

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the detox stuff

that " works " through your feet. I've seen patches and a foot spa

thingy. Supposedly drawing the toxins out of your body through the

bottom of your feet. The patches turn dark and the water in the foot

spa turns dark, the color depends on how many toxins you have in your

body. I am just having a hard time believing it. Wondering if anyone

has had any experience with it or knows anymore about it. Thanks in

advance for any info! :)

Hahahaha. You know if you think they work maybe they do just a little bit huh?

I had the worst stiff neck you could have and tried everything even a handful of

Vicodin which did nothing, didn't even nake me high. I used one smelly

application of Tiger Balm and it was gone the next day.

Donna, I'll take tiger balm over Vicodin any time! The last time I

took vicodin it was a bad root canal. I slept for about 30 hours and

was glad.....but the stuff renders me worthless...

they are total BS.

Google foot pads scam, or foot bath scam and you will see.

regarding the foot bath, they simply flip a switch and the water

ionizes to create that color while reacting to your skin.

Katie, their web page will show you where to get it close to you. My

can was a gift, my fist exposure to it, and it lasts a long time, so I

have not had to purchase....Asian stores sound good though.

Most health food stores have it. At least around here, I'm in New Jersey.

I cannot vouch for all brands (there are many scam artists out there in all

fields), but the theory is definitely legitimate. The skin is your largest

organ of elimination in the body. Even though you may eat well (I have been

macrobiotic for over 20 years now and rarely take any medication), you may

have toxins from other sources built up in your body.

I would love to be able to afford one of the foot spas. But I have

purchased some of the patches. They get VERY black and oozy. I had them

tested at an independent lab and they found a ton of aluminum, mercury and

other heavy metals, in addition to some drugs in the pads after I used them.

(Considering all the mercury and aluminum I was exposed to as a child, I

should not be surprised, but I thought 20 years of clean eating might have

cleared it all out, but not according to the lab.)

Herbal and salt baths and clay also draw toxins out of the body through the

skin. Other cultures have used all of these to improve health for thousands

of years.

Umbian clay is very good. Fresh makes an awesome skin care line with a

lot of the active ingredients are sugar and soy. Umbian clay exfoliates

and draws out the impurities of the skin. Sugar is a great exfoliate as

well they have a wonderful scrub called >Brown Sugar Body Polish....I

love it

Have no experience with the foot pads, but last year I purchased a far

infrared home sauna to help eliminate toxins, and had the old mercury

fillings in my teeth replaced. This was after I began following new

eating principles, and was able to wean myself off of some long term

RX medications that had been negatively impacting my health for many

years. It's made a significant difference in the way I feel, as well

as in my weight and appearance. Am not going advocate this here

specifically (although I'm NOT selling anything), but you can write to

me directly if you'd like more info on what I do.

The point I want to make about toxicity is that vegetarians can be

uniquely vulnerable to tissue accumulation of environmental toxins,

and that can contribute to significant health problems. The US banned

DDT in 1970 for instance, and we tend to think that we're safe from it,

but it's not a worldwide ban. Many of our fresh vegetables and fruits

are now imported, and come from countries which still allow DDT and may

not regulate pesticides or the use of other crop chemicals. Imported

processed foods and seasonings can also be affected.

Homegrown or local organic produce is best, but can be inconvenient

and/or prohibitively expensive. Washing all fresh vegetables and

fruits before use with plain baking soda and water is a good practice,

no matter what their origin (you can buy a plastic shaker for it, easy

to keep next to the sink).

The person who started this thread labeled it off topic, but it's

really a very pertinent food supply issue which can have a negative

impact on the health of anyone who follows a vegetarian diet. All that

we can do is be aware, and take care of ourselves as best we can.

Please be well.

Barbara

Thanks for the tip about the fruit. I have to admit that I hardly think about

where our fruit comes from and didn't think about the fact that other countries

still use chemicals that we no longer use. If only the whole world could go

organic!!
