I really wanted a nice new cherry pitter for my kitchen gadget fixation. Party pooper! Amy **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Guest guest
I've never heard of 20 ouncers. They must be HUGE as you said. LOL Thanks for sharing the website. It looks like a wonderful family business. I enjoyed browzing the site. I remember visiting one of my aunts, one summer when the cherries were ripe and eating loads of them........ They were delicious. I love to buy them at store, when they are on sale. They don't grown this far south. I can't imagine using a paperclip to pit them.......... Lots and lots of patience. I've heard of some folks buying a Cherry Pitter to use to remove the pits. Have you ever used one? It just be kinda like something you use to remove pits from olives. The farm grows lots....what comes to mind are Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Empire, Crispin, Red Delicious, and 20 ouncers. I'm sure there are more but I can't recall. The 20 ouncers I've only been able to get a couple times, they are HUGE and not good eating apples but great for cooking. Very short shelf life too. They also have cherries....oh yummmmm. One summer we visited right during cherry picking and brought home 5 coolers full. Sat at the kitchen table with paperclips pitting them for a full 2 afternoons. Froze them for pies. Mmmmm Here is a link to the farm: _http://www.lynoakenfarms.com/_ (http://www.lynoakenfarms.com/) Amy **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Nancy C. I've seen Cherry Pitters. Paperclips work just great and much cheaper! That was what Doug did growing up and I had to admit it worked great. Guest guest
I could not live without an olive pitter, and my olive pitter does say for olives and cherries. I got mine at Williams Sonoma, was more expensive than a paper clip but it is nice, durable and gets the job done fast! , akfral wrote: > > > In a message dated 3/16/2008 9:28:09 P.M.
