I had two and I hated them, gave them away. I know

others enjoy the recipes but I have not made anything

good out of them and I tried several recipes. The

Eggplant Parm. was edible but horrible the next day.

So you know I've been a soldier in the armies of the night.

And I'll find the fatal error in what's otherwise all right.

But here you're trembling like a sparrow, I will try with all my might

To give you just a little sweetness...

Just a little sweetness...

Just a little light.

I don't like her books. Her mac & cheese should be called Mac & Barf.

I donated mine to the public library.

I like her " Table for Two " a lot. I also have Vegan Deli and The

Uncheese Cookbook, but Table for Two is the one I've used the most. I've

wondered why people seem to love or hate her cookbooks, and I think the

key might be your relationship to junk food. I think she's really,

really good at putting whole foods together in ways that imitate yummy

junk food goodness, but if you never liked junk food, that's probably

not real appealing :) I think the mac & cheese casserole in Table for

Two tastes a lot like Kraft (powdered) mac & cheese, and I used to live

on that stuff as a teenager, so it's comfort food to me. But last year

or so (two years ago maybe?) when my partner and I were still getting

lots of cheese and cream cravings, Jo Stepaniak's books were a huge

help. There's a lemon " cheesecake " filling and a cream cheese that's

made from almonds in The Uncheese Cookbook that I liked a lot. (If I

remember correctly, Erin blogged about the cheesecake on his

zenpawn.com/vegblog/.) Hope this helps! Peace, Maureen

I have the Uncheese Cookbook and Vegan Vittles. I haven't made a

lot of recipes from either, but admit the mock-cheese recipes

are " interesting. " However, I *loved* the two " cheesecake " recipes

in the Uncheese Cookbook, and last weekend I made the Gardener's Pie

(shepherd's pie) from Vegan Vittles and really enjoyed it.

Hi, I bought her Uncheese Cookbook off of Amazon after reading the

reviews...many were 50/50. I made about 2 or 3 recipes so far, but

had to play with the cheese sauces...add more vinegar or mustard here

and there, till your taste buds hit the mark just right.

Also, for those of you with allergies...she has MANY typos in that

book. SOme that are noted as 'nut free', contain cashew or almond

butter! I think her peanut butter dessert even says it's nut free, but

it's NOT, hence the name..so weird! And she also uses tahini (ground

sesame seeds) in about half of the recipes, and my son is allergic to

sesame seeds.-robyn CA
