Guest guest
When I was a child, I thought canned asparagus was the most wonderful thing to eat......then I grew up, got married and started buying groceries and found fresh asparagus....lighly steamed, roasted, grilled.......I could eat them everyday and I have not bought a can of aspargus since the first time I tasted the REAL ones!! Nancy C. Yes, but I perfer it steamed. It makes a wonderful addition to stir-fry, too. The biggest thing to be concerned about with fresh asparagus is snapping off the tough bottoms of the stalks. After you see it done, it is the simplest thing in the world, but it is hard to explain how. I suggest that you ask the produce manager is your grocery store to show you how. People hate to throw away the tough ends, but they can't be eaten as they are. Most people just toss them, but Ispend half an hour pealling them and put them in salads. You are in for a treat, I guarentee you will never want to settle for canned asparagus again. Katie
