Does anyone have any good turnip recipes. I've found plenty for

turnip greens, but not for turnips themselves.

TIA,

I have a favorite turnip recipe! It is so good I am making it for easter

dinner.

It doesn't even have a name.

I peal and dice one large turnip

peal and dice four red potatoes with the skin on

peal and dice one sweet potato

Mix together and saute in olive oil for about 15 minutes until the pieces are

soft.

Sprinkle on a little salt and enjoy.

For Easter I am going to dress it up a little but scooping out and dicing the

inside of the sweet potatoe, but leaving the skin and layer of potatoe in tact.

I will back that until it is soft and then chop the part I took out to go with

the red potatoes and turnips and serve the mixture in the sweet potato shells. I

will garnish with a bit of parsley.

If you have a good potato soup recipe, substitue some turnips for some of the

potatoes...makes a nice taste!

I like to take two turnips.....peeled and diced, 4 carrots, peeled

and cut in circles about 1 " long, and one onion diced in large pieces.

Cook together in boiling, seasoned water (salt, pepper and a dash of sugar)

till just fork tender and serve with a little butter. I love this one. I

love

turnips raw, or cooked just about any way they can be fixed.

Indeed Turnips in just about ANY soup add flavor!

I also slice them raw and use them as chips for hummus or other dips!

I have been so bad about my turnips....started thinning them and

eating the greens (I planted some in a bed with carrots, radishes and

beets, and the turnips are overshadowing the others....). I cooked

turnip and radish greens the other day with just a little olive oil,

salt and garlic, how delicious! I should however hold myself back and

allow some of them lovely roots to grow so i can experience some of

these recipes! I love the turnip greens too much!

Katie,

I made this last night and it was a hit! I really like the balance

of the turnips and sweet potatoes.

Thanks,

Glad you like it.

I think it is a visually appealing dish, too.
