I went to the dr. one day, the E.R. the next. Diagnosis: flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, laryngitis. I was told to get some chicken soup. I told them I am a vegetarian. I They told me that I would not get the same benefit from a plain " vegetable water " LOL They said that I needed the nutritional benefits of the chicken soup. What can I do to feel better?? Any good vegetable soup recipes that might help me feel better? I am taking the meds they gave me although I detest taking medicines. jeannie

Guest guest
My doctor put me on Tamiflu last year when I FINALLY went to see him the THIRD time I had the flu. I felt better fairly quickly. I won't delay in going to see him if I get it again. I just took the Tamiflu, drank lots of fluids, ate lightly and stayed in bed.....wasn't told I needed chicken soup in particular and got well anyway. Nancy C. Guest guest
Go get a bag of juice oranges and make you some fresh Orange Juice or some Oranges to eat. Also a bag of grapefruit and eat it. Get lots of Vitamin C and the B Vitamins in particular to boost your immune system. We use this product, Emergen C. http://www.emergenc.com/ Immune Defense Walmart has it in their vitamin section and Sam's Club as well as many other places. It tastes wonderful to us. Hope you feel better soon. Judy - jeannieh99 Saturday, March 22, 2008 11:07 AM need advise & recipe I have been really sick for the last few days. I went to the dr. one day, the E.R. the next. Guest guest
Hi Jeannie, Hope you feel better soon! After years of not getting colds, my partner and I swapped cold/fluy things for something like six weeks over the fall/winter. Diane's Curried Lemon Garlic Broth with Spinach and Cayenne and Donna's Tibetan Chard with Tofu (not a soup) were a huge help. (Many thanks again to you both!) Recipes are below Peace, Maureen Curried Lemon Garlic Broth with Spinach and Cayenne 6 cups veg broth 2 tsp curry powder 1/4 tsp cayenne 1/2 cup orzo 1/2 ld fresh spinach, coarsely shopped (about 6 cups) 2 Tbs fresh lemon juice 1 Tbs honey 2 tsp olive oil 12 medium garlic cloves, minced 6 scallions, trimmed & minced Bring veg broth, curry, and cayenne to boil in a soup pot. Add orzo and cook for 8 minutes. Stir spinach into simmering base and cook until just wilted, about 2 minutes. Stir in lemon juice and honey. Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium low heat. Add garlic and scallions, saute for 30 seconds. Ladle soup into bowls and top with portion of the garlic-scallion mixture. Serve and enjoy. Pe serving: 244 calories, 8 g protein, 3 g fat, 48 g carbohydrates, 6 g fiber, 126 mg sodium, 154 % vitamin A, 79% vitamin C, 15% calcium Tibetan Chard with Tofu 1 lb. tub of extra firm tofu, drained and cut into small cubes 1 bunch of chard, (I used rainbow) washed & torn into pieces 4 green onions, chopped (including bottoms & tops) 1/2 tsp. paprika 3 large garlic cloves, smashed 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger, finely grated 1/2 tsp. cumin 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds 1/4 tsp. turmeric 1/4 tsp. black pepper 2 tblpsns. soy sauce 1/4 cup peas, frozen and thawed olive oil (for extra flavor use a few drops of sesame oil) Heat a little oil in skillet and stir fry green onions, paprika, ginger, two of the three smashed cloves of garlic, mustard seeds , turmeric, and cumin for 2 minutes. Stir in soy sauce, tofu and peas for 3 minutes or until tofu is coated and heated through. In a separate skillet heat a little oil until it's quite hot, stir in one smashed garlic clove, pepper, add chard, stir fry until wilted and coated with garlic, pepper and oil, cover pan and let steam for about 1 to 2 minutes. Spread greens on a serving dish and pour tofu mixture across the top. jeannieh99 wrote: > I have been really sick for the last few days. I went to the dr. one > day, the E.R. the next. Guest guest
When I feel something coming on, or already here, I just load my body with extra nutrition in the form of raw green smoothies, extra zinc, vitamin c, and echinacea. About a month ago I felt a cold coming on (viral laryngitis, I believe) and kicked it in the butt with this regimen. I was only mildly sick for about 3 days. 360./naturekeene7 My Website!
