Guest guest
Hi I clean up the asparagus bottoms by cutting off the " cut " end and then cutting the remainder of the " throw away " stalk into little pieces about a half an inch long. I put these in reusable freezer containers for vegetarian soups and stews. As tough as they might be, they do cook and soften with the long cooking time of both soups and stews! I do the same thing with broccoli stalks... Mom always said " waste not… wants not! " I hope that this helps. Cheri BC – Canada

If I don't take the time to peel and slice them when steaming the rest of the broccoli, I toss it in the freezer for later (soup, stir fry etc).
