It seems to be opening now. I think it does that inaccessible error when

someone else is looking at the recipe maybe, or who knows..... LOL It ususally

will let you look at it within 5 minutes or less when you have that error come

up.

Here it is though and it is a keeper.

Yellow Submarine Soup

2 onions, coarsely chopped

4 garlic cloves, crushed

2 cups yellow split peas

1/2 tsp. thyme (dried)

1 tsp. oregano (dried)

1 tsp. salt (use salt to taste when soup is done)

1/4 tsp. cumin

1 tsp. pepper

1/4 to 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes

6 1/2 cups vegetable broth

If making on the stove then saute the onion and garlic

for a few minutes in a tablepoon ofolive oil until

tender firm. Add other ingredients and bring to a

boil, reduce heat to a low simmer and cover pan. Cook

for 50 minutes, soup will be a nice rich thick soup.

Salt to taste.

If using the crockpot I place everything in the

crockpot and let cook for hours on high and turn temp.

to low for the last 1 or 2 hrs.

Re: [Fwd: Dakota Smashed Pea and Barley Soup

The Yellow Submarine soup recipe in the files isn't accessible -

Donna? Could you repost (or is it someplace else? I found it under

hot soups).

Does it contain yellow split peas perchance? (I like them better than

green split peas!)

recipes I've seen posted. This one has the chewiness of the barley and

the yumminess of the spices that keep me coming back over and over.

Yes, I tried again and it worked (go figure!). Thank you SO much for

posting it though, I'm definitely making this tomorrow! I think I'll

add a few carrots, potatoes, spinach.... (I can't just make it as is,

like someone else posted a while ago!)...oooh, I have some leeks,

celery.......

And, of course, the name is fun!

hahaha Like the name I gave it. Enjoy the soup, it's

one of my favorite soups and easy too.

I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one.

And I believe it could be someday, it's going to come.
