I would like to have a vegetarian graduation party for my son and need

ideas for cheap yummy dishes that my meat eating extended family would

enjoy. This is what I have planned so far not much yet. I would love

to have things like Mac N Cheese but I don't know how to keep them

warm. The party is in the summer evening.

Salad

Dinner Rolls

Tabboli

Watermelon and Strawberry Kabobs

Nachos and Salsa

You can buy really cheap chafers at party stores; they hold aluminum

pans and keep them warm using Sterno.

You could make vegetarian lasagna; no one would even notice the meat

isn't there.

Try the Cuban Cigars. They are wonderful and fun to eat, too.

Look thru the appetizer recipes in our Recipes File. There are lots of

wonderful ones. Also lots of great salads and sandwich fillings. Of

course explore all the files. Your mouth will be watering and wanting to

try so many.

Hope it is a wonderful celebration of their graduation.

I have served the avocado pie at a few parties and took to a graduation party.

Very big hit.

You could buy the chafing dishes at most party stores they are fairly

inexpensive and the you can have a mac & cheese, a veggie lasagna, a pasta

w/oil

and garlic or a marinara sauce.

How about a tomato, mozzarella salad.

Veggies and dip

Pasta salad,

bean salad,

You could make refried beans and keep them warm in a slow cooker.

What about going with the nachos and salsa idea and doing a

taco/fajitas bar? YOu can pre chop tomatoes and lettuce, pregrill

peppers and onions, put out rice, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, soft

taco wraps, beans, and you could do textured veg protein with taco

seasoning. We did this for a party last summer (though my husband

included meat) and it was a big hit for vegetarians and carnivores

alike because everyone could make their own and not have to take

anything they didn't like.

You can also try the vegeratian " Steak strips " and make " Hot roast beef

sandwiches " ...they are really great...toss on some green peppers and or some

" cheese " for Philly sandwiches.

My family loves those, even my dad the carny of the family.

Hope that helps
