Guest guest
It has been 2 years for me and my kids. I just started cutting out the dairy the hormones they add, and antibiotics aren't good for my kids I think it may be playing a role in my growing teen daughters attitude, although most comes with the age but Ill do anything to help. - Good Eats all and God Bless! wwjd <jtwigg wrote: Here is our Question of the Week for this week. - QOTW: How long have you been a vegetarian and if you aren't one yet, tell us if you are getting closer since being in the group? Guest guest
I'm a 3rd generation lacto ova vegetarian and raising a 4th generation. Our faith, which is Seventh Day Adventist, encourages a vegetarian diet, as part of keeping our bodies healthy. I love cooking. i love our recipes here and in the many cookbooks, I enjoy browzing and cooking from. Some of my favorite cookbooks are fundraiser cookbooks that different Seventh Day Adventist have put out. Many of the recipes have meat substitutes in the entree section and I enjoy using these products and we've never eaten meat. Happy Vegetarian cooking everyone. Guest guest
For as long as this group has been around. I believe it will be 3 years in Sept. and this group got me off my cigarettes too with all the encouragement and members stories. I actually never thought I could conquer neither of the two. This is my support group. Brad
Guest guest
It's been about 3 whole months for me **blush**, although I have never been much of a meat eater. Before I was married (about 13 years ago), I didn't really eat much meat. My husband was a " meat and potato " guy. He has since eaten healthier, while I have eaten worse. It finally got to the point that I felt like doodoo. I decided the make some changes, then finally made the move to a full commitment to vegetarianism. My family is a lot closer too, but not there, yet. ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ .·´ -:¦:- Terri -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´

Guest guest
I've been a vegan for 18 months, was vegetarian for 40 years and was moving towards becoming vegetarian practically from birth. At school lunches I would flick my meat onto someone else's plate when they weren't looking, or else I would find some other way of disposing of it. As the local ice rink was only open to the public on Sunday lunchtimes, I took up ice skating to avoid Sunday lunches at home as that was the one meal where meat was guaranteed to be served (my mother fondly believing that we were eating meat at school.) When I was 14 I went to stay with an exchange family in France and gave up meat altogether after a trip to the supermarket where the family purchased rabbit meat which still had little fluffy legs attached (sorry TMI, I know.) The only thing I have missed since becoming vegan is parmesan cheese - the vegan substitute just really doesn't do it for me at all. That means that I have cut back dramatically on the amount of Italian food that I eat because it just isn't the same without a sprinkling of parmesan. Guest guest
I sprinkle on a little nutritional yeast and it does the trick for me in place of parmesan , " christie_0131 " <christie0131 wrote: > > I've been a vegan for 18 months, was vegetarian for 40 years and was > moving towards becoming vegetarian practically from birth. Guest guest
When I was in grade school I would only eat chicken and fish because the thought of eating any other meat repulsed me. My family would grill my boca burger alongside their regular burgers! I've always loved eating veggies just as much or more than any meat dish, but never got serious enough to try a vegetarian diet. It's really hard when meat is a main course in all of our family dinners! About two months ago I took a pledge to eat vegetarian after hearing about the cows from norcal. I felt healthier and got to try some really yummy recipes that I would've never found otherwise. I've had a few meals since with meat in it since, but I'm trying to work it out of my diet. I think the hardest part is going to be avoiding fish because I just love sashimi. Ahhh, but I have hope for me. =0)
