Guest guest
I thought I had seen them somewhere--here is a link that tells about them. I wouldn't have believed it if I had not read it and seen the picture! Here's where I saw them on the web: http://barryfarm.com/nutri_info/beans/ivorylentils.html And, I now remember that I have also seen the " real thing in real life " , too. While browsing the aisles at the interesting store in Kirkwood, Mo. (metro St. Louis area), I saw a bag of small creamy colored lentil-like beans. Yes, they DID look like split peas--like split mung beans, but only rounder and flat-er. They were called " Urud Dal " , and because there was very little [English] printed information on the package, I had no idea that this was a bag of lentils! Now that I know what they are, I think I might get some to try sometime. The description on this " beans " site makes them sound really interesting! --Laura B., in Illinois (I have used " chana dal " split chick peas before!) There really isn't a yellow lentil. There is a yellow split pea and it cooked up like the split green peas. There is chana dal which looks almost like the yellow split pea. It is actually related to the chickpea. It doesn't taste anything like a yellow split pea or a lentil. It's used in Indian cooking. Rain , Judith Herman <jmherman54 wrote: > > Actually I have even seen yellow lentils. Guest guest
I have never seen those. They sure are an off white shade. I love The Barry Farm, good prices and they ship immediately.
