Thank you all for your help. I try to just state what I mean, but in the end

come off as rude. This woman is such a sweet lady, and totally a meat-eater, so

I want her to know that what she has done is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Cassie

Wish me luck, as I am now off to see what there is to eat.

This has nothing to do with intelligence. People need to be informed nicely. I

know a few vegans who eat ranch flavored Doritos because they never thought to

read the label. I know vegetarians who eat Jello because they never knew what

gelatin was made out of. I have had to explain why I don't eat pizza with

pepperoni pulled off or meatballs removed from sauce, several times to meat

eaters, and if you are kind about explaining then they will listen and you will

open their eyes.

It's a real milestone she brought the veggie dogs so call her aside and thank

her and tell her that means a lot to you, then kindly explain you will gladly

warm any vegetarian foods up yourself because ..............

They should know better. People that grill hamburger and hotdogs on a grill

with veggie burgers and dogs have to know it is going to mix.P How much

intelligence does that take? Put it in a crock pot to warm? Forget the veggie

part!! It is nice that they thought of the veggie side though. The City that my

husband used to work for did the same thing. They provided him with the veggie

burgers but cooked them with the others. He wasn't really happy but thought it

was great that they were thinking. Sonnie

Donna,

Come Monday I will be taking all the meat out of my diet. Then in the next

three months I'll be taking things out of my diet that have meat products in

them. It's amazing how many there are!

Can you tell me how you explain to people that you don't eat anything that

had meat touching it.

I know I will be the same way but for some reason I cant wrap my own mind

around the reason why I am going to be like that. (I know that sounds goofy)

I figure if I hear others reasons something might click within me. :-)

Let us know what you ate. I love Brad's idea of talking with her tomorrow.

TAking her a little treat for thinking of you. We never want to cause hurt

feelings, I think it will all go well for you.

Does it face an early end, will it find a real friend, should it be called

I'm not Donna, but what I share with them, very kindly, is that I don't want

the meat juices and fat from the meat flavoring or touching my food, or to have

meat stocks cooked in any thing I am eating, since I am vegetarian. . I say

that I hope they understand and that I would be glad to bring something to make

it easier or would be glad to cook it in a seperate pot, baking pan, etc. I

think that most folks that aren't vegetarian have just never thought about the

fact that vegetarian folks are

very careful about things like this as it makes their food no longer vegetarian

and turns their stomach. When we are invited to someones house, I mention

these kinds of things before we go over for dinner, so they don't feel

frustrated with only finding this out at the last minute and get upset. Most

folks will be very understanding, especially if you let them know up front some

ways to prepare it that will make it easy for them to accomodate you.

For cookouts, if it is at someones home, I like to just take my Worthington

vegetarian hot dogs, and heat them in a pan on the stove in the broth they come

in. Or I take our metal prongs and cook it over the fire. You can also

brown them in a little oil in a frying pan. So many options.
