Welcome to Vegetarian Slimming and Health, Saedric ;=) Fancy seeing you

here!!! *lol*

Yes, there are lots of vegan recipes up there - and one can always veganize a

few if necessary ;=) I suggest you have a look for yourself and see what you

like. We've been a bit quiet these last weeks, but this is a great group with

really nice people. I think you might enjoy chatting to them!

While you're on the website, also check out the Links and then go and vote in

the Polls - there are 2 polls up there! ;=)

I'll look forward to talking to you later, okay?

Best,

Pat ;=)

Warm welcome. That is awesome about you

taking on the role of president of your college

veg club. Feel free to share this group's url with

your members and share any of our recipes

from the files in your club newsletters if you

want. There are some wonderful urls for helpful

sites shared in our LINKS section, too; do check

them out and share them with your club as well

if you think it might benefit them.

We can get fiesty about topics we are

opinionated about... rarely a dull moment! *lol*

i look forward to reading your posts and learning

how things are going in your club. :)

I'm overwhelmed by the activity in this group!

I have been contemplating a vegetarian group for my high school. It

would be centered around vegetarians, but would be open to people

whom just want to eat healthy in this fast-food crazed world.

I would love to hear more " iffffyouonlyknew " about your club, and if

anyone had any arguments, persuasion tips for the faculty at my

school to fully consider and respect my ideas, please let me know!

Welcome Sheri. You will love your life now. I'm not sure what peppermint tea

consists of, but if it is just mint leaves, you could steep it in the sun

without heating, and add ice later. I'll leave it to the more knowledgeable

members to deliberate on the rawness question of boiling water. If it is a mix

or something, maybe you can make a natural alternative. Good luck, Lane

[Raw Food] Another Newbie

I can't believe I'm really here - it's been a long road! 29 of my 35

years of dieting and the past 12 getting closer and closer to eating

raw. Finally it was just too obvious what I needed to do. I gave up

the dieting all together, since it had done nothing but make me fat and

miserable about it. I looked back on the times I ate Paleo and felt

really good and decided to take it one step further. I'm so relieved

to finally be doing this. I feel FREE!

I had first come up with the idea in my early twenties and didn't know

it was an actual way of life. It just seemed like common sense, but a

friend convinced me it was crazy and I let it go.

Finished my first real day of 100% raw and feel so much better than I

did before I started. Pretty sure I have leaky gut (yuck - isn't that

attractive sounding?)after reading some testimonials on raw sites. On

the first of Feb. I attempted raw, but still needed to mull it over in

my mind a little more, however even cutting way back on processed food

that day got me through the old sugar-detox headache, so I didn't even

have to deal with that on my REAL first day. I thought it was a great

day to start too, being Groundhog Day since I want to stop feeling like

a waddling old groundhog, but start eating more like one!

My first question is about tea. I love iced peppermint tea, but can I

still drink this if I'm going for 100% raw? I usually fill half the

cup with nearly boiling water, let it steep some and fill the rest of

the cup with ice. I'm guessing nearly boiling water is a no-no now,

but will it steep decently in warm water and how warm?

I believe in a mixed raw/ vegan diet...I mean, why deny yourself

Pepermint Tea!!! No, it isn't going to kill you. Yes, I believe that

unhealthy fats may kill you but peppermint tea! There is nothing

better or more purifying than a warm green or herbal tea... and study

after study have proven its benefits. You only live once - live your

best and sensibly and don't deny yourself the small, healthy

pleasures in life! :)

Hey Julie - I'm a former San Diego Native - (well, east county side of

SD) But I'm up in the IE (Inland Empire) now - just north of

Hi

Im a new member. I have two teenage daughters. Love to cook and

recently have been finding more satisfaction with cooking vegetarian.

I use TVP in my ground beef recipes (tacos, sloppy joes) and the girls

love it.

Have started using my food processor a ton more to make vegey burgers

by throwing in a bunch of vegeys (any), beans or tofu, whole wheat

flour, spices and then form patties and fry in tiny bit of olive oil or

bake.
