Guest guest
I can't stand the sandy texture of most beans. Are there any varieties of beans-other than green and wax-that don't have this texture? Sarah
Guest guest
I've never noticed a sandy texture to beans before. If they are fresh beans, have you washed them well in a strainer bowl. If you are buying the frozen, they should not have any sandy texture at all. What beans are you referring to? Guest guest
I am not sure I understand the terminology of " sandy texture of beans " . Do you mean you find a gritty taste when you cook dried beans? Nancy C. I can't stand the sandy texture of most beans. Guest guest
Canned kidney beans are somewhat sandy, and any dried bean I've ever had was also sandy. Lima and butter beans are hideously sandy. Guest guest
I have never heard this before. I can open any type of canned beans and eat it right out of the can with a fork cold. Same with fresh cooked. Can't help you with beans, maybe you just don't like beans. Guest guest
Beans r my main staple. Love'em!! Would suggest to you though to rinse your canned beans. And when using any kind of dry beans, always give them a good rinse before you soak them or cook them. You always want to clean your dry beans,,,,they can even have small rocks in them,,,then soak them or cook them. Guest guest
I love beans, all kinds of beans, too!! We bought a bushel of fresh pinto beans, in the shells, last Thursday. I spent the biggest part of Friday and Saturday shelling them. I cooked a nice size pot of them fresh and pressure canned the rest in pint jars on Sunday. They are absolutely DELICIOUS!! And the fresh ones don't give me g-a-s.....at all! So now we have 12 pints of fresh pintos in the pantry! Nancy Beans r my main staple. Love'em!!
